It is a valid point that with space-time expanding in all directions, simultaneously, there is no fixed origin (0,0,0,t) for space-time in relative reference, that lasts more than an instant. This is useful to discuss. This is not a conspiracy, just something overlooked.

I did hold you slightly above the other well known forum cranks.
It appears as brucep and others have told me, that I am indeed wrong on that score.

I would hold both of you in much higher regard if you occasionally answered direct questions once in a while. I've committed the usual insults to memory, so don't bother typing them again. Save yourselves some effort and provide a link to them, all in one post.

I thought wellwisher was singular, not plural?

I'm not really interested in how high you hold me, as obviously most cranks and nuts on this forum, have their usual low opinion of me.

I see that as a badge of honour.
I can easily live with that, knowing that the poor sods in question have no other outlets other than a rather lax science forum such as this.
And I certainly do answer all questions, other than those purposely constructed with an agenda behind them, or to try and "catch me out" as my friend rajesh likes to pull on occasions..
And I would actually worry about your own insults against science in general first, rather than what you perceive mine are.
Rather amusing how most alternative hypothesis adherents are so quick to paint themselves as victims. *nudge, nudge, wink, wink*

Better. I'll just save a link to the post now. All done. There, that wasn't so bad.

    Yourself included?

You needn't respond. I have a link to the usual insults. That works really well.

Why would I be included? I've stated many times I'm only a lay person, who has read a bit and taken notice of reputable sources of knowledge.
With those basic few tools, I am to some extent able to refute the many alternative hypothetical nonsense that forums such as this attract, [since forums are the only outlet these people have]I'm able to discertain the highly unlikely scenario that this forum, [or others] will be the birth place or emergence of another Einstein. These are fairly logical assumptions that are easily arrived at. Obviously it's these troubled ego inflated individuals I'm referring to that have a problem, highlighted of course by our own four TOE claimants we have had.

The other thing we see on sciforums quite often. Good advice, even from something that quacks.

Let us work under the assumption, that conspiracy theories are connected to feelings of grandeur. The question is, how does not believing in man made global warming make those who deny this "truth", feel grand? The motivation for denial is more about self defense, since they see the path suggested as needed, leading to loss of freedom, bigger government, higher taxes, more state control, higher personal costs for energy, that will kill the middle class and handcuff industry, etc.

The status quo (no change) might feel more grand, than the third world, world, projection, that is appealing to liberals. The Manmade global warming side makes the liberals feel a greater sense of grandeur, since that type and extent of government control, over everyone, is more in line with their tastes and visions of the future; socialist power grab. Based on the math, since grandeur is on the liberal side, does that make manmade global warming a conspiracy theory?

As I stated in the OP. Delusions of grandeur, subsequently open to conspiracies, are also connected to anti establishment/science bias, obviously no matter what the consequence.
There self opinionated grandeurosity, blinds them to any consequence of the fact that they are wrong......at least in reasonably long term scenarios that don't affect them personally

The science establishment shows that the earth has gone through warming and cooling cycles and climate change, many times in the past. This is normal for the earth. The manmade version of this has never occurred before, so this is a prototype theory. It sort of makes sense, in a conspiracy type of way, but has no precedent in the annals of science, to be called proven science. However, it does pay well, has created many jobs and conceptually allows one group to lord over the masses. Big oil is doing this on purpose and only liberals can save the earth. It fits the template.

If you look at gay marriage, which is connected to another liberal conspiracy theory. Who stands to be inflated by this? Who wants to be the center of attention and have the big party? One group is being defensive, protecting a long standing tradition. The other group is trying to undermine this by stereo-typing them as having an evil intent. The gays could have started another tradition, but choose the use the conspiracy approach; they are the victim of an organized assault. The goal is to look pretty in a wedding dress.

Like I said, the democrats and liberals do this all the time, which is why manmade global climate change is an another conspiracy product that fits the template you have shown. Being defensive is not a feeling of grandeur. How does protecting what you already have make you feel inflated. Those who assault the past are one one who get inflated.

Delusions of Grandeur and Conspiracy theorists: Connection?

The person who questions and cribs about others Grandeur (even if that is false sense of Grandeur), must be suffering from severe self doubts and huge inferiority complex.........

One can refer to Freudian Psychology about the veracity of above stated point.

    No, that doesn't make sense.
Within the context we are talking about, that is amateurs, without proper qualifications or learning, having illusions that because they are able to think for themselves, [as most people can] then whatever pops into their little cranium, must over ride and displace what the many qualified and learned giants throughout history have worked hard to achieve and match pretty closely what we observe.

The connection of course between the "delusions of grandeur" and "conspiracy lovers", is of course that once they are forced to face such delusions of grandeur and their own grossly inflated egos, their only recourse is to immediatley call the establishment mainstream recalcitrant and insist that they are a mob unto themselves and will never accept any alternative hypothesis that should happen to invalidate any long standing scientific theory.

That argument though falls flat on its proverbial arse, as do the cranks that push such nonsense, simply because of the fact that all our present mainstream scientific theories, had at one time or another also been "alternative" and also had to "run the gauntlet" and undergo stringent critique from their peers.
They did that successfully and came out the other side as accepted logical models of the universe around us.

And most probably some of the present models will one day in the future, be replaced and/or modified when some young spark comes along with some brilliant insight based on data and what he has observed.
And as science is today at such an advanced state, with access to advanced equipment, that non scientists and lay people just do not have, the next bright spark will be a part of the mainstream brigade.
The chances of someone coming from left field to rewrite any discipline of science may be theoretically non zero, but realistically, far closer to zero than one.
Even the arrogant pompous Isaac Newton [as great a scientist as he was] said "I see as far as I do because I stand on the shoulders of giants"
But today we seem to have a new breed of arrogance that even surpasses Newton's

Even though they absolutely lack Newton's redeeming qualities of brilliance and intelligence.

The less one knows, the more they think they know. The more you know, the less you realize you know. When we know a little of something, one might extrapolate from a limited data set. The result may be good fit for that limited data, but because we know so little, we may not be aware of all the data. Instinctively, one can sense they are drawing a good curve through these five data points, while the experts, know there are ten data points. The see that the curve is off. There is no meeting of the minds, because each see different curves, with each curve consistent with known data and the laws of curve fitting.

If the discussion then turns to insults, because neither wish to budge, the novice doesn't learn where they went wrong. They assume they are being attacked by caretakers of the traditions. They still sense their curve is right for those five data points, and nothing is being offered to counter this, beyond reciting dogma. This can be due to those who know the traditions, not up on its original development. It may be possible the creative idea with limited data was part of the original thinking.

In the same token, say you come up with a flaw in a theory, this is a data point where the curve of the status quo does not fit all the known data. This is conceptually no different from the layman; the status quo claims to know more than they do. They don't realize what they don't know. Often in this case, dogma is recited to maintain disconnect. There are certain rules of logic and curve fitting that apply even to the experts.
