Mankind's peace efforts have culminated into an international organization called the United Nations which has devoted its resources, efforts and strategies for maintaing a world order by universal consensus--Bush's take on this "its a debating society" Get out of here!

Though the United Nations does have many accomplishments, it does have considerable faults, as well. The Arab world, for instance, generally votes together to display its collective hatred towards Israel. It has a tendency to react rather slowly, which is what Bush means by a "debating society". One good example of this is the U.N. reaction to the Kosovo situation. This definately would have been Serb territory and a major humanitarian crisis in Albania if it was left up to the U.N. Probably the U.N. most obvious failure was in Central Africa. This was a situation that was waiting to explode, and the result was half a million dead. While it can be argued that it took a few weeks for this genocide to take place, there were many signs that mass murder was the inevitable conclusion months before it became a full blown humanitarian crisis. Sudan, even now, is a situation that is mainly ignored by the U.N., which over a decade has taken 2 million lives. While the United Nations has had many successes especially in preparing nations for elections, it has been generally useless when it comes to military ability and avoiding mass murder.

    it is.
actually it's worse. it's a collection of 191 nations, which just under 50 of them are democracies. the rest of them are theocratic, fascist, despotic, repressive, or other non-democratic regimes.
this ridiculous organization has 3 functions

    1) to fuck things up for the western world, democracies in general, and United States' interests in particular
    2) to demand money from the United States
    3) to create legitimacy for terrorist ambitions through phony commissions (China, Lybia, and Syria and Cuba are on the Human Rights commission)

    its great failings:
    1) to fight anti-Semitism [link. go to the [Morning] link, go to 39:26 and listen to the guy and the woman speaker introduced after him (Anne Bayefski)]
    2) to prevent or stop actual genocides (Rwanda, Sudan, etc.)
    3) to fight terrorism (you can't fight it if you haven't defined what it is)
    4) to enforce its own decisions (enforcing its charter)

it is my sincere hope that a new alliance of nations will unite into a new institution - UDN: United Democratic Nations, and the UN lose its power and authority
