She made a pie on her own. You want me to go slap her around because it wasn't up to your culinary standards??

Pumpkin pie is pretty easy. In fact most pies are, I think that's why they are such a popular way to package food items.

I buy 2 punkins a year an process enuff punkin for aboout 8 pies an plenty of punkin to cook an eat like any other squash (very good).!!!

Store bout (caned) punkin for pies often has "grit" (from processin dirty punkins) in it... my punkin is a beautiful yeller/orange smooth an much beter tastin than store boout.!!!

I also roast the seeds... also very good.!!!

Orleander, criticism of your daughter's yummy desert belongs in the "Pointless" thread. Don't pay attention to them. The short recipe theme was clever and there's there's no reason to imply that your daughter could have done better. It's mean spirited to even suggest it.

Interesting fact - Originally pies and pastrys were themselves literally just package for the contents, such as meat, on long journeys.

Yeah, free form pies basically look like a bag of dough with fruit compote inside.

This is pie? all it is is sugar and chemicals.

I do a lot of cooking and baking and this just sounds like CRAP!
Make a pie with fresh ingredients (fruit) and it takes like 2 mins to make
your own graham cracker crust for a fraction of the price or make a pastry dough
    for next to nothing.

I just started making bread again. I had a bread machine a long time ago but it broke.
I just picked up one second hand cheap, because they didn't use it.
No bread you can buy tastes as good as fresh bread you make yourself..and the smell
    in the house......mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm.

I used to kneed the doe by hand but a bread machine does an excelent job wit less mess/easier clean-up... but i hated buyin a new expensive pan when the bearin wares out... so now i use a Kitchen Aid mixer to kneed the doe... an then put the doe in my old bread machine pan to bake the bread in the bread machine.!!!

I took the old bearin an paddle-shaft out of the pan... so when the bread is baked it dont have a hole in the bottem when the bread is removed from the pan.!!!

I like bein able to make esactly the kind of bread i want... which is hole-wheet lower-sodium high-protene bread which includes a cup of homade yogert... an about half the time i add aboout a tablespoon of caraway seeds an/or about 1/4 cp walnuts.!!!

Orleander, this is the crust I use for most of my pies. It takes literally 5 minutes to make. It's flaky and delicious and very easy to handle. You can make it with shortening or lard, and it's better to let it stay in the fridge overnight before using. It lasts in the fridge for about 2 weeks, so I always keep some ready for when I'm in the mood for a little treat.
It can be used for either sweet or savory pies.

are you kiddin me!? This isn't about me makin a pie. I know how to make pie and roll out pie dough.
This is about my little girl making a pie for the family and being proud of it while I appreciate it. You act like I served ice cream and twinkies for supper with whiskey shots for dessert. What's your malfunction anyways. :wtf:

There is nothing wrong with your little girl showing interest for cooking for the family. I praise her initiative.

Shame on you for not teaching her to do it the right way.
