Seems much has changed since I was a young man, and that the dating game has taken on new dimensions with the arrival of texting. I've been talking with a friend about his troubles with women lately. Apparently he hasn't mastered text educate. He meets women when out and about, gets their number, and loses them after contact via texting.

Also the Tinder thing is interesting. Last weekend my daughter posted on the site for no better reason than she wanted some attention. She received more than a hundred replies with a couple hours. I watched her flip through the pictures of those responding--good looking guys from what I could see, but gave them less than a second of her time.

My son tells me he gets maybe twenty replies every three months to his Tinder account.

The digital age has proven to be a boon for women, and a competitive nightmare for young men--or so that's my take on it.

I feel for you guys, and am damn happy it's not me. Best of luck.

Nope, met them on mailing lists (Vietnam War) and atheist forums.
