Here's a weird... something... that a remote controlled research submersible found on the ocean floor. It looks like a purple sphere with bumps on it. They watched as a crab kicked it, then sucked it into a container with a suction tube and returned it to the surface. Please Register or Log in to view the hidden image! Early speculation was that it might be an egg-sac or a larval form of something, but the C-net story suggests that it might be a hitherto unknown kind of nudibranch, (a mollusc resembling a sea-slug) often noted for bright colors and weird shapes. They are spectacularly beautiful critters. (Nudibranchs, that is. Thorny pink facehuggers, not so much.)
