It was off-topic for me to use this creative first aid thread to discuss how lay people should manage an emergency medical scene involving ignorant, worrisome, contentious, belligerent and/or intoxicated bystanders/relatives.
Pouring salt into a wound is a TERRIBLE idea. That would just cause more tissue death and fluid loss. As for sucking chest wounds, I would try to seal it totally. When we have patients with chest tubes, we're supposed to put an occlusive dressing (like vaseline gauze) over the hole if the tube accidently pulls out. The physician would eventually re-insert the tube.
Ignore asguard. He's just an EMT, which I consider a vocation, not a profession. Often, less qualified people tend to go to extreme lengths in order to prove they are "good enough" to their higher-ups as well as laypeople. That includes going on peculiar tirades about CPR.
