Computer Science and Math Induction

I am currently taking my first Algorithm class, and I am also taking a class in Discrete Mathematics. I am wonderring after taking these two classes if it would be helpful to take higher level math classes alongside my furthur class in Computer Science. In particular I am thinking of looking into more Math Induction classes. Any ideas would be great.

There was a discussion on slashdot a while back about mathematics for computer science majors. I think that the general consensus was that even thought mathematics is an integral part of computer science, in the IT industry, it isn't extremely usefull except for artificial intelligence and for computer games.

Well, I would say that it depends on where you want to take computer science. In my opinion there are two major forks after a CS undergraduate degree. And as you go through it, depending on the school and its focus, you'll probably be pushed to the theoretical, basic computer science where mathematical knowledge is a big help and is necessary for full understanding of *stuff*, or, on the other hand, you can go into IT track and just do engineering type of work, where the basic math background you have from the degree will be more than adequate. Sort of the difference between theoretical and experimental physics. Theoretical computer science is riddled with mathematics. Experimental or in this case, applied, computer science, is more of an engineering work. Hope this helps.
