I go to a university in Illinois that costs $11,000 a year, and I really don't think it is worth it. My freshman year is going by very quickly, and before I know it the decision as to where I should go next year must be made. I've considered just going to a community college next year to save some money, then returning to my university to finish my bachelor's degree. That's my general situation. Is there anything wrong with just going to a community college? There just isn't any reason for me to stay at my university when I don't have any friends, don't like the dorms, or the courses I take.

(although if you've only taken general education classes [english101, history101, biology101] your credits should all transfer to a community college.) sometimes switching is more of a headache than its worth once you're already in a university's system. (transcripts mysteriously don't show up, financial aid gets all crazy.) (just speaking from my own personal experience.) maybe you should re-evaluate your reasons for leaving. why do you think you really want to leave? what were your original reasons and expectations for attending this particular university? were they met? also you are already familiar with all of the things at the university you are going too. while a new place is often exciting sometimes the grass is just greener if ya know what i mean. anyway, hope that helps you with your decision. you can make an appointment with the admittance office at the community college and talk to them about it. they should be able to offer you advice on what they offer and what the process will be like for enrollment, etc. Please Register or Log in to view the hidden image!all we need is peace and cheese:m: **edit to fix my horrible spelling and grammer**
Actually I was just planning on going to a cc next year and then returning to my university to save money. It goes like this: freshman at my university --> soph at cc --> return junior year and senior year to university. I'll just save a ton of money by going to a cc.
I did 2 years at a CC before transfering to a university. Was able to earn a transfer scholarship which paid for my last 2 years.
That's not a bad idea, notPresidentAndrew. Just make sure the courses you are going to take at the community college are transferrable to your university. Somethings are not. Don't waste money on taking those that are not transferrable.
The community college I'm thinking about going to is right next to my university, and the two are pretty friendly. My university gets a good number of people from the cc.
i live in Iowa and the CC's in this district are very good and transfer-worthy to major universities...i would highly recommend you getting all your gen-ed courses finished up at the CC level, then transferring the 64 credits over to to university of your choice. however, make sure you check with the guidance office to see for sure that the courses you will be taking will actually be transferred over...most will ..but, some of the more piddly ones won't.
