Ye grande old villain - rest ye well My brother and I would watch Hammer films when I was a kid: WUTV in Buffalo would run a show on the Saturdays in a slot loving called Creature Feature. We'd get out the popcorn and genuinely look forward to it: the haunting reminder of things in the woods, just over that hill - beware! beware! It was cheesy sometimes, but nothing my childish brain could comprehend. And when it wasn't Creature from the Black Lagoon, it was Hammer films and Sir Christopher Bloody Lee. A theatrical man holding together entire flicks filmed in a fortnight with classic British can-do-guv and absolutely wonderful. As a man, Lee could scare the shit out of me with every appearance, heel or hero. I will, utterly, miss knowing that grand old man is no longer in the world. We are poorer for lacking him. Great bit with an impressive impression from Stephen Fry here (0:35) And a Vincent Price for free: Cushing is gone also, of course. Goddamn all.
I also have enjoyed watching the great man on the screen for my entire life. He will be missed indeed. Please Register or Log in to view the hidden image!
