I don't agree with the nutjobs on either side. They look equally reprehensible to me, no matter what the cover story.

This is a brilliant rhetorical poem (is it all your own words, or did you copy it from somewhere else?) but I think the concern is over how China seems to treat its own citizens rather than anything else. The concerns are primarily humanitarian. The Chinese government seems very controlling and freedoms sparse. Is this an inaccurate picture?

I don't think so. How many in the anti-China crowd actually care about Chinese citizens one way or another?

I suppose I was speaking for myself. I know there are powerful people with different, more selfish, more sinister agendas but, speaking personally, I'm not anti-China but very much concerned by the repressive actions of the Chinese government. No, western governments aren't blameless. But this isn't about them.

1.i have to say, i copied a part of verse from someone else. but it was what i want to say and confused with.

2.i think it is an inaccurate picture in most westerns eyes. in fact, i dont care about politics.but in passed 2 months, western world and some westerns made me very upset.China is very diffrent than your imagination and understanding,at least China changed a lots in passed 30 years, even human right.yeah.. meight you will say i was washed brain by gov.to be honest, for young Chinese (after born in 1980), we enjoy our life, and we know China still need improve(even human right),but we can wait, and we would like to wait and we trust our gov , love our homeland just like what you do.

3.controlling and freedoms. i think its opposite not absolute in any time any place, even in western world, do you think you really have the veriest freedoms without any controlling?maybe just seems to be. but in fact most westerns only know what media and gov told them with wrong, incorrect, man made data and information."humanitarian", what is right, what is wrong external?

please trust what you can see and you saw by your own eyes, rahter than just copy idea any thinking from someone.maybe my word not fixed on this topic.

    anyway, welcome to China!

I'm travelling to China (Hangzhou) in a few weeks to present some lectures at a university.
Want me to try finding out what some real Chinese people (students, academics, and maybe a hotel concierge) are thinking and feeling about anything in particular?

I'd argue the US is the most evil. China sells all the stuff it makes with slave labor to the US. Who really is propagating the system?

Yes, it is nice. I've been once before (a similar trip, and my only other trip outside Australia). I managed to fit in some time on the West Lake and a tour of the Ling Yin temple/FeiLei Feng carvings.

Do you have any suggestions for other ways an English-only tourist (although probably with a student guide) might spend a spare afternoon in Hangzhou?

No it does not. Every country imports goods from China and some just as much or more as U.S. as far as percentage.

Thats a nice little poem.. but if you want us to believe it, then stop your government from supporting Zimbabwe. Think about it, I would not hate your country unless they were doing something wrong. You cant go supply an evil dictator here with weapons and troops and not expect us to get super pissed off with you.

And then you cant expect to take your nice little political poem seriously while you are supporting the genocide in Sudan. If you want us to hold hands and skip in the street, then STOP giving dictators the means to kill more africans.

    1. there are many bars and cafe around the west lack, you will find one you like and spend your spare afternoon.
    2. there is a famous tea, named "LongJing tea" you should buy alittle.
    3. there are 2 famous hangzhou dishes that every tourist have to try: "vinegar fish of west lack","DongPo meat", pictrues as blow:

    4. from HangZhou to Shanghai just 2 hour by bus or train, recommand you spend a weekend there.its very diffrent with hangzhou. one modern, one traditional.
    5. i remember there is a tourist bus line in HangZhou, 5 RMB(i cant remember clearly, but cheap and worth), you can look around whole city by that bus.
    6. i hope this website is usefull for you, its english: en.gotohz.com/web/guest/home

....that really doesn't obviate the complicity of its own government in killing its own people, dlray. And, by the by, Tibet is an invasion and has nothing to do with "putting the pieces back together". Your lyrical protest, while entrancing, is based on a number of non-sequiturs.

okay. i want to ask you a question, how much tibet and Chinese history you know without those bullshit from your democratic news paper and media?

"invasion"??Tibet is part of China since 14th century it is history, we cant change. just like you cant change your country's history.i dont want to talk too much about this, there are many RIGHT refrence in english you can check. please do it yourself. And if you really want tibet go back to slave society, you can protest, you can shout "FREE IT", its your privilege,i wont stop you.

    who really want free tibet?
1.before "invasion", 5% person controled tibet and tibetan, there are Lama and salve employer.
2.before "invasion",95% tibetan were slaves ,had no freedom. they can free trade by salve employer, they were killed by salve employer has no reason.
3.before"invasion" only 2% tibetan child had eduction, NOW,there are 85% as good eduction(teach in tibetan)
4.tibetan population increased from 1 million to 2.5 million after "invasion".
5.tibetan everage life increased from 35.5 years to 67 years after "invasion".
6.tibetan have good welfare, see doctor free, tax free after "invasion".

"putting the pieces back together" YES,INVASION!! from 19th to 20th century, western army came, invaded, robed China.killed people, robed property, burned house. DO YOU KNOW HOW MUCH GOLD AND SILVER THEY TOOK FROM OLD CHINA? They even burned our Old Summer Palace. Look around your museum, where were those chinese cultural relic come from? why dont you protest about that?where are you by that time?

"is based on a number of non-sequiturs", well.. maybe. what about you?hehe.. you just like someone standing outside my house and blame i invade my own gurden.

You are so ebullience. Why dont you protest france, it invaded corsica, corsica want independence.i wont, at least i wont do that before i really know the history about france and corsica.Take care your own life, and talking what you really understand. otherwize, shut up, please.

I'm not sure. How much Chinese history do I know without BS from undemocratic apologists?

Strangely enough, they seem to differ on that point. And they did change, in 1912.

Please allow me to summarize your statistics at this point: hogwash. Nonsense. Ridiculous. Absurd. Prove your statements or be silent on the subject. From which government agency did you hear these statistics, and why did you refuse to question them internally?

    But please carry on.

Oddly enough, I wonder if the Chinese population decreased by 1.5 million directly after the invasion also. Coincidence, perhaps.

Let us see what Wikipedia - that tool of the running dog Imperialists, our common foe - has to say on the matter of demography:

Hmm. My guess at your increases would be demographic warfare. And lookie this; here it is:

    Unsurprising.

They also have internment and lots of nonmedical deaths, apparently from high-velocity "lead poisoning".

Where am I? Well, as you know, I was immortal. Naturally I was alive in that period, but chose to do nothing about it.

You see, the difference is that I also deplore the actions of Western nations in China in those centuries, among others. One can deplore both things, you know.

It depends. Are you going to beat the hell out of the independent garden gnomes who live there to assert your claim? Whatever you may think, Tibet gained its freedom in 1912.

    Indeed I am so ebullience.

If Corsica wishes to separate, then I support their claim also. Have they gained independence since 1912 on a majority vote and has France invaded and bayoneted some of them to keep them quiet? No? Then how does your point relate?

That history being provided by Chinese government sources rather than independent ones, naturally.

Thankyou - you take care of your own life also.

And I also thank you for your ignorant commentary and pointless propaganda.

    Best regards,

    Geoff
