Canada has a much better ratio of natural resources to people than the USA does. The USA has a much better ratio of natural resources to people than India and China have.

The ratio of natural resources to people may affect the ability to provide social spending without harming the economy. The US defense and corporate welfare budget is huge and definitely competes with social spending for the limited US tax resources.

I prefer social spending to War machine but both are drains on the economy.

Nothing is ever his fault. Blame Bush. That will probably be Obama's campaign slogan in 2012 (should he get the Democratic Nomination).

A couple of minor details, facts are tough for those on the right and it is little wonder that they are so eager to thrust their transgressions onto to the new management in town.

And it is funny, because for the entire george II 8 year reign he and his pundits were blaming Clinton for all of their ills and missdeeds.

    http://crooksandliars.com/jon-perr/bush-economy-and-myth-clinton-recession

"Predictably, the drumbeat from the Bush team was reproduced with zero distortion from the always reliable media. While Fox News' Sean Hannity made the argument during the November 2002 mid-term election "this president -- you know and I know and everybody knows -- inherited a recession."

Here is the rub, there was no recession under Clinton. And two years into the Republican reign they were blaming Clinton for a recession that did not even exist under his tenure.

And now they not even 2 years into Obama's term and Republicans are screaming bloody murder because Democrats are reminding people that Obama did inherit the greatest recession since the Great Depression from Republicans!

Now we have legitimate and well documented misdeeds that were dumped onto the incoming administration (Obama) and all of a sudden it is horrible that Democrat should remind folks who really was to blame for the problems the nation now faces.

Not suprisingly, this is just another example of Republican willingess and need to depart from truth and deceive the gullable among us.

We spend less per person on healthcare then the USA does now, and we are having better results. Reasorces has nothing to do with it, when It comes to Health care, esp when it is for Profit Like Capitalistic health care

What is it you think is all Obama's fault? _ Not just attempts to recover from the damage GWB did?

GWB did so much damage: two recessions started, two wars started, reduction of purchasing power of Joe American's salary in an economy that was 2/3 based on Joe's buying, tax relief for the already wealthy that "trickled down" to build new more modern than US factories in china, which made US factories no longer competive and closed them, (Buffett ownes 10% of BYD motors, etc.) doubled the national debt, which weaken the dollar.

So much damage, that I could confidently predict the US was INEVATABLY bound for deep depression before Halloween 2014 when GWB still had nearly two year left as POTUS.

GWB's give to Obama to cope with is quite different from Clinton's surpluses and reduced debt gift to GWB. Please tell some thing even 5% as damaging to the US that Obama has started.

    Yes, the reason that Canada spend less for health care is because they budget less, and once that is gone;

    http://www.vancouversun.com/health/... underfunding leaked paper/1878506/story.html

Thousands of surgeries may be cut in Metro Vancouver due to government underfunding, leaked paper
By Darah Hansen, Vancouver Sun August 18 2009.

VANCOUVER — Vancouver patients needing neurosurgery, treatment for vascular diseases and other medically necessary procedures can expect to wait longer for care, NDP health critic Adrian Dix said Monday.

Dix said a Vancouver Coastal Health Authority document shows it is considering chopping more than 6,000 surgeries in an effort to make up for a dramatic budgetary shortfall that could reach $200 million.

The health authority confirmed the document is genuine,

According to the leaked document, Vancouver Coastal — which oversees the budget for Vancouver General and St. Paul’s hospitals, among other health-care facilities — is looking to close nearly a quarter of its operating rooms starting in September and to cut 6,250 surgeries, including 24 per cent of cases scheduled from September to March and 10 per cent of all medically necessary elective procedures this fiscal year.

If Canada is doing so great, why are they sending people to the U.S. for care, and the Premier of Newfoundland and Labrador headed to the U.S. when it came to having His heart procedure?

But the Premier of Newfoundland and Labrador is not the only one, there is a steady stream of Canadians who choose to get their health care here in America.

Plus Canada is facing even more sever shortages of medical professionals, than the U.S.

    http://blog.heritage.org/2009/08/17/hows-that-government-run-health-care-working-out-canada-2/

The incoming president of the Canadian Medical Association says this country’s health-care system is sick and doctors need to develop a plan to cure it.

Dr. Anne Doig says patients are getting less than optimal care and she adds that physicians from across the country – who will gather in Saskatoon on Sunday for their annual meeting – recognize that changes must be made.

“We all agree that the system is imploding, we all agree that things are more precarious than perhaps Canadians realize,” Doing said in an interview with The Canadian Press.

This appears to be a more than a little off topic, but I think it is imporant that your misrepresentations be corrected. In the above reference, you did a lot of cutting pasting and excuding of test in order to create a false representation of the article.

So let's start with quoting the article without the cut and pasting:http://www.vancouversun.com/health/T...506/story.html

"VANCOUVER — Vancouver patients needing neurosurgery, treatment for vascular diseases and other medically necessary procedures can expect to wait longer for care, NDP health critic Adrian Dix said Monday.

Dix said a Vancouver Coastal Health Authority document shows it is considering chopping more than 6,000 surgeries in an effort to make up for a dramatic budgetary shortfall that could reach $200 million.

This hasn’t been announced by the health authority … but these cuts are coming,” Dix said, citing figures gleaned from a leaked executive summary of “proposed VCH surgical reductions.

From the text, it is clear the source is a partisan who is against the Canadian health authority. Based on previous experience it would not suprise me to find this Adrian Dix is being funded by the US healthcare industry. If so, this would be just a continuation of past practices by the US healthcare industry.

Now let's look at the second paragraph. This Adrian Dix is referencing a document that has not been released...if indeed it exists at all. Where is the document?

Additionally, if Canadians come across the border for healthcare guess who pays. It is not the Canadian citizen, it is the Canadian government. So sending patients across the border for more expensive treatment in the US does not make any sense does it?

And the last part of your post cites a right wing whacko opinion piece as evidence. Unfortunately for the right wing citing an opinion piece to support an opinion is not evidence.

LOL, are you saying that our brothers and sisters in Canada are so rich that they don't need the government paying their healthcare expenses for them? They can just come down here to the states and pay our inflated prices just for the fun of it or perhaps they do it for charity?

My bet is everyone in Canada gets their money the same way everyone around the globe gets their money, from the government.
