He's 76. I have a feeling we'll be doing this all again in a few years.

I'm just glad the Church made it through this difficult time unscathed. Now we usher in a new era of dehumanizing homosexuals and enabling the spread of AIDS throughout the world.

We'll just have to see if Pope Francis I (Frank), the first Jesuit pope, disciplines the priesthood and gets back to basics.

    Just watching Sky News.
    He's decided to quit.

    Pope Francis said:
"I've just read the job description.
Do this. Do that, Bless this, Bless that.
    You're never finished.
And you have to pray nearly all day long.
    No wonder Ratzinger retired.
Let some other mug do it"

    Then he said:
"Oh, and before I go, a message for you British:
Give back the Falklands, or you're all excommunicated.

Not much of a threat, considering that less than 9% of the Brits identify themselves as Roman Catholic.

Might be some hope: as a South American Jesuit, he might have ties to the socialist Catholic reform movement in the Jesuits in that half of the American hemisphere. Then again, that was really Central America, and it still wouldn't bode well for homosexuals.

I suppose for the sake of amusement I should now say: "But hey! this isn't Catholicism. You're all a-Catholic-hatin'!"

I was kind of surprised to find that I was watching all of this with great interest. The Catholics certainly know how to stage a show, from the amazing Vatican setting, through the costumes, even to the smoke signals.

When the Cardinals went into their conclave, I was thinking that they should choose a Latin American pope, because numerically speaking Latin America has become the church's center of gravity. And I expected that they would probably choose a traditionalist. That seems to describe the new Pope Francis.

Reportedly he was surprised that he was chosen and hadn't really wanted to be pope. Paradoxically, that might be one of the better qualifications for the job. The people who were busy politicking and lining up support in hopes of getting the job were perhaps the ones least appropriate to receive it.

I can't really understand why the media is making such a big deal of this at all.

For over a week now almost every media type has given this religious circus headline news telling everyone who's new and that nothing actually changes. So while many watched this "event" the world continues onward with many other newsworthy events happening much more interesting than this "show".

To much time wasted with this but then again look who owns most of the worlds media.

I think it's a conspiracy to get back the Falklands that we stole fair and square.

Who did the Arizona Cardinals vote for?

CK: What do you mean Sarah?
    Sara: Didn't he hate Mexicans?
