Screwy Louie Card Game-- the Best I think the previous post is more like the game I call "Black Queen" where you try to get points. In the Screwy Louie I've been playing for 30 years, your goal is the least points. Here's the rules: Screwie Louie Goal: have the least points at the end of the game Round 1: 2 sets Round 2: 1 set, 1 run Round 3: 2 runs Round 4: 3 sets (lighting round) Round 5: 2 sets, 1 run Round 6: 2 runs, 1 set Round 7: 3 sets SET: 3 or more of the same (4,4,4 - Q,Q,Q - 10, 10, 10, etc.) RUN: 4 more more in a row, SAME SUIT ( 2, 3, 4 & 5 of Hearts, J, Q, K, A of Spades, etc.) When you get ALL components of a Round, you can then "lay down" your cards in front of you. Cards on the table have no point value. Cards left in your hand after a person has no cards left count. After laying down, you can then play on other people's cards on the table. Point Value: 10, J, Q, K = 10 points Aces = 20 points Jokers = 50 points 2 thorough 9 = face value You MUST discard a non player to end each round. If your discard is a player, it is picked up out of the discard pile and played on somebodys cards and the round continues until a person's discard is a non player. You can BUY up to 2 times each round. A buy let's you take the discarded card PLUS 2 more from the pile that you have not seen. When you wish to buy, the player states "buy" and if no one in front of them wants to buy the card, or the person whose choice it is to pick up the card for free does NOT want that card, then the player can buy it. Aces play next to a King or next to a Two, but you can't rotate around like this: K, A, 2, 3 To start the game, shuffle and deal 11 cards to each player. For 4 players you will need 2 decks For each additional 1 or 2 players, add another deck of cards. Then turn a card up and the first person can choose to take the up card or take from the down pile. They then discard a card and play continues to your left. After a person discards a non player and they have no cards left, count up all the cards left in your hand and that's your score for that round. Also, you cannot lay down more than what the round calls for. For example, in round 2 your goal is one run and one set. You can't lay down additional runs or sets, only one run and one set. You can build off that run and set as much as possible, but a 2nd run or 2nd set is against the rules.
