I never lose sciforums. It doesn't move around alot, according to my most recent information it is still right around Pittsburgh somewhere.

I'm getting an error message every once in a while. I think it usually happens when i'm trying to access two or more different threads at the same time.

This issue should be resolved now. Please let me know if the site ever becomes inaccessible again so I can get things fixed.

    Thanks.

anyway, whitewolf is right, it's all about what you come to sciforums for. If it's for entertainment then everything is good here.

I found the post by whitewolf that Greg seems to be referring to here. It is in Xerxes "Two Roads..." thread about 6 or 7 from the top:

    Xerxes,
The problem is all in your head...

As long as sciforums is a good source of information and fun (which it currently is), it fulfills its purpose and there is nothing to complain about.
People may appear less often here now, because school started, and because life has multiple aspects besides internet.
    ------------------------------------

This actually points to another thing sciforums is providing besides fun, namely information.
I have found newsitems and suchlike info here that was appreciated at another board where I go, so I like that aspect of this board. If it was just fun I probably wouldnt come here for that (my hobby is choral singing which is a lot of fun but you cant do it over internet) but fun is a plus and the quality of info makes it worthwhile to visit. I only go to JamesR thing called Physics&Math so cant speak for the rest.

Perhaps Porfiry You should mention the sites Indexing times since I guess you've tried to rig them at a low load period. It would give some clue to people when the site "Might" be down.

If indexing isn't the problem and it's DNS (since DNS records can on occasion be corrupted, thats Domain Names Server for those that don't know.)

What a person could do is:
Find the "HOSTS" file that is situated on your computer, this can be found in different places depending on your OS.
Open the file HOSTS and add the red number and sciforums entry like this below:

    Code:
    127.0.0.1 localhost
    [COLOR=red]66.39.35.200          [url]www.sciforums.com[/url][/COLOR]

Then save the file to where it was previous.

Now when you type www.sciforums.com in the browser, you will find that this HOSTS file is checked for the IP address instead of the DNS record. It will reduce the time at which the site loads, since it is now found quickly and also increase the resolve time of the DNS for those that haven't used this method.
