Communism could easily work. in Russia they managed to keep a communist government going for 2 or 3 years, and they hadn't even undergone the change to capitalism, as Marx said they must. They had very little wealth to share.

But think, with how much money is just floating around in rich people's bank accounts, we are wealthy enough for communism to work

The main reasons that it is unlikely to ever happen, is because the media, government officials and business owners have an incredible amount of money and influence, which they don't want to lose. So they use advertising and news reports to build upon the people's greed and their struggle for the greatest amount of wealth in the short term. And that makes communism seem unnatractive to societies such as America, Australia England

During the 30's, about 100,000 Americans moved to Communist Russia, under Lenin at the time, because there was far more opportunity there than in depressed America.

Communism work in the long run? Nope. We humans are inheritantly selfish.

However communism is a good system to adopt briefly when your country is in need of land reform as its almost impossible to achieve land reform without red stains.

No, we absolutely are not. We are incredibly selfless. With our families, our tribe, our community. Humans will give their lives for their grandparents, their second-cousins, their next-door neighbors, their schoolmates.

Tigers are selfish, rats are selfish. They take care of their offspring just long enough to send them out into the world. And then they'll just as likely kill them (or their parents or siblings) if they get into competition for food or territory. These animals don't care about anyone but themselves, just enough of a parental instinct to keep the species from dying out.

It's human COMMUNITIES that are selfish. Each one competes with the others. Apes are all like that. They're social and they care about their pack-mates, but the pack itself competes with other packs.

And that's why communism doesn't work. Our instincts only take our caring about each other to the pack level, which we've managed to expand to include a few million people who are just like us in a lot of important ways. Language, religion, culture, appearance. The Swedes, the Bulgarians. We've really surpassed the other apes to a miraculous extent, we have a right to be proud of ourselves. But to get beyond that, we need economic incentives, and communism just fucking does not provide any. Market economics does, and we have a right to be proud of ourselves for inventing that as well because without it there would be no civilization.

    End of story.

communism doesn't even work in my family. Hell it barely even works when man and woman make sex sometimes.

Communism can work if everybody espouses the ideology.

    I, for one, support communism.

Unfortunately, for the entire populace, that is hardly the case.

People don't "espouse ideologies." Most people wouldn't even understand what you're talking about. Students "espouse ideologies." People with too much time on their hands and good educations like us "espouse ideologies."

Everybody else just blunders through life doing what feels right. And working hard without getting commensurate compensation, because some college student tells them that they'll get just exactly what they need but nothing extra, does NOT FEEL RIGHT.

You can support communism all you want, but YOU CAN'T MAKE IT WORK. Nobody can except people who live in communes or in tiny countries with extremely homogeneous populations.

what gave us the right to deserve more than we need? Humans are inherently evil, we are the only race that kill out of anger or jealousy or other emotions, what gives us the right to deserve more than we need?

You must understand that the whole of Nature is "communistic"
no one type dominates the others

Enter human beings.... initially they were as one with nature and "communistic"

    Enter intelligence, enter manipulation/science..

    End of communistic behaviour....

    Why ?

Because once the path of LIFE is manipulated, unforeseen consequences arise.... and these can only be identified in hindsight...

and so "by designed ignorance" the whole of the "intelligent" species becomes a victim of its own lack of knowledge.......

and so metals, etc are born and these corrupt the higher mental functions....

until you have humankind on its knees.... wondering what went wrong.... but way too blind to see that they are the cause of their own undoing and eventually their own..

    so stupid these human beings

Their religion smooths the idiocy and prevents redemption.

    Ultimately stupid these human beings.

    My opinion:

Considering the time Marx wrote his book, communism eventuly would fail intodays public society...

A few changes here and there would set things stright perhaps.

But without finacial gain in the markets, people would not have freedom to express there selfs.....

We would have no Artists, Sculptors, Song writers, TV shows.... techonigy would eventuly would cease....
Culture would end up in the dumpster....

Mankind cannot gain from Marx's book, but the idea was a very good one at the time.... and if changed a bit it could work....

But the word Communism is tainted.... if one was to envoke such law today, it would need a new term.

PROUT: A Socio-Economic Theory for the New Millennium

One of the necessary factors in the development of a healthy society is a proper socio-economic theory. In any age people have to come to grips with the question as to how the resources of the world are to be utilized and allocated. In addition, society needs to arrange a system of government which can meet the needs of all its members. The answers which the society gives to these concerns reflects the socio*economic values which that society follows.

Today there are two theories which shape the world's approach to economics and politics. Only a few nations still follow economic and political systems and policies which are based on Marxism, while most others have fashioned systems based on capitalism. What is becoming increasingly clear is that neither Marxism nor capitalism are satisfying the all-around needs of society, and the time is right for the introduction of new socio-economic ideas which can fulfill the demands of humanity. In 1959 in a series of lectures later published as Idea and Ideology, P.R. Sarkar first described a socio-economic theory which he called Progressive Utilization Theory, known by the acronym PROUT).

The communism Marx proposed is only one kind of communism.

All governments have their people build "pyramids"

Dictatorship: One man says how it is built by the people for himself
Monarchy: Dedicated to one man by the people with the guidence of their leader
Democracy: Built by the people for the people under the guidance of a group
Communism: Builds for the people by the people without a a leader

Thus, the people of Communism are in a chaotic mess, each with his own way of building. Ever try to build something with others where you all have a similar plan, but one uses meters, another feet, and so on... when you all meet, it doesn't work out...

Is Communism being used in China? How is that going there? Are they redefining Communism?

Anyhoo, I am in the USA now and capitalism doesn't seem to work either.

Capitalism is designed to create a Bell curve where 25% are poor, 50% are middle class and 25% are rich. As the greed takes over, the curve is skewed to:

    Dirt Poor: 20%
    Poor: 20%
    lower-middleclass: 30%
    Upper-middle class: 20%
    Rich: 7%
    Filthy rich: 3%

Communism not only eliminates competition, it discourages ideas and innovation. The biggest problem with communism is that it promotes a stagnant society and it won’t be too long before poverty completely puts some finishing touches. Capitalism is the same as communism because the same wealthy people indirectly sets and keeps the whole economy in motion; they provide jobs and every other amenity. I can’t even begin to highlight the flaws of communism; it’s simply a bad idea. Of cause in capitalism some people get rich and some miss out of the action but moreover people are born with many mental and physical handicaps any idea how we can do something about that too? Anyway what is PROUT?
  22. Light Registered Senior Member

That's just plain silly. Capitalism has no "design" whatsoever. It's simply a free-floating system. Where in the world did you get such an idea anyway?
  23. kmguru Staff Member

    The idea was free-floating ....
