That's not a very good analysis. The young men who gather outside the police situation, the parents who are complaining, the people who think it's alright to whip people who call a teddy bear Mohammad, are all products of a much bigger, and deeper phenomena than the reasons you attribute it to.

I'm not really sure what it is, yet, but it certainly is a lot more than "liek they dotn give a shit about anythign apart from themselves." They certainly give a very big shit about Islam, and about enforcing their culture.

I think it's similar to how Germans were alright with sending their neighbors to concentration camps, or how Republicans are alright with giving government the force to fuck its citizens, or how Christians think that bombing Iraq for Christ is what Christ would want.

    Torture.

    Remember, I said:
Why worship a God that tortures people?
You might as well worship Hitler.

    And then you said:
??? Where do you come to that conclusion?
No society exists peacefully without accountability. Accountability is not torture.

    And then I said:
So if you call causing severe pain "accountability" ,it is justice not torture.
    Every despot says the same.

    And then you said:
    Huh?

    And then I said:
If you call something evil by another name
that does not make it good.

    And then you said:
    What evil?

Which brings us right round in a circle.

What I am saying is that torture is an evil
whether it is done by people in the name of God
by despots, who want to make people accountable,
    or by God himself.

Anyone who worships a God like that might as well be worshipping Hitler.

Depends on how you define torture.

Some people think welfare is torture, other people think taxes are torture.

Some people don't blink at tens of thousands locked away for years while causing an uproar over a 15 day detainment.

Still other people think delusions of attack are justification for invasion and occupation and pay faithfully out of their income to support the same, but shy away from supporting the healthcare in their own country and decry their children paying for older people in the distant future.

    These are metaphors.

No disagreement there. Many are in prison and being subjected to cruel treatment. Some of them are innocent, but have no legal redress.
America has been shamed by its Government in its treatment of prisoners.

Does this also hold true for all those who are silently complicit?

After all none of those have been convicted, only four charged, all have been held and tortured for over 5 years, so are you going to denounce the system you are supporting?

Who is worshipping the false God here?

    I'm supporting Bush and Blair?????
    I don't think so.

You are attacking a position that I don't hold.
I agreed with you about the prisoners remember.
Anyway tis twelve of midnight and I must depart.

I have a friend who believes it's his duty, as a Christian and an American, to fight Muslims. He also won't talk to gay people.

I have a gay atheist friend (42 years old) from Alabama and no one but her mother knows she is gay and atheist.

The others in her family keep telling her how they can "tell" when someone is gay, which causes her no end of amusement. But she would never out herself to them, so she basically goes along with them when they have their God hates fags conversations.

It was my understanding that a Christian rights group is the one who filed the complaint. For whatever reason they found the teddy bear being named Mohammed offensive. Oh yes here http://www.timesonline.co.uk/tol/news/world/africa/article2947734.ece

See she was teaching in a Christian school, that makes sense then you see? So it was them who initiated this incident. The question really is what significance legally does a name have? I mean can a judge really imprision someone for using a name that's just a series of letters? I would think not (in the final word).

Purposefully causing physical or psychological duress simply to cause that person pain.

The real question is: Is putting someone in HELL torture?

This always amuses me. Do you believe in Hell?

They do, so they are always trying to "save you"

    And you hate that. Right?

That completely had nothing to do with my question. My question was is Hell torture.
    Well is it?

Do I beleive in Hell? I think life can feel like Hell at times which is good because then when something good happens I appreciate it a Hell of a lot more!

The question is straight forward and direct: Is Hell torture? I was sure the answer was YES as that's what they say. Carrot and the stick so to speak.
