I read a ripper of a yarn many years ago which had a terrible cover and daggy title but nonetheless was a most enjoyable read. It was called "Star Spawn" and basically it was about an interstellar spaceship which arrives in our system in need of repairs to it's hyperdrive. Only they arrive during the middle ages. Please Register or Log in to view the hidden image! The giant bugs who inhabit the spaceship are a strange but friendly enough lot who go around the Galaxy collecting interesting zoo specimens. Unbeknownst to them a large scaly reptile they picked up on some dead end planet is actually carrying a couple of dangerous parasites. Sentient "puppet masters" who long ago almost overran the Galaxy. A long distance phone call home reveals this fact to the bug eyed Aliens and they are given orders to destroy the plague or else the entire planet in the interests of protecting the rest of the Galaxy. I'm not a big fan of religion but it's given an interesting new twist in this. Apparently God was an incorporeal being far more advanced than these biological parasites and if you pray to him hard enough he can free you of them. At the end of the story a monk leaves with the spaceship to go and teach christianity to the universe. Somehow it actually works as a plot and the action was really cool. Castle battles, jousting tournaments and alien weapons. If I was a little richer than I already am I'd buy the film rights. "Raise up your swords!" "The Aliens have landed..."
Superman : Red Son elseworlds series where Kal-El Lands in the Ukrain rather than Kansas 2061 and 3001... might as well finish it Starship Troopers ... It just deserves a GOOD movie The Wheel of Time
Spin. It's the best sci-fi book I've read in a long time. The premise is excellent, and though the book is driven by the interpersonal relationships between the characters across their lives, the force behind it--the Spin--is a great idea that would make for awesome visuals on-screen.
The best scene in StarSpawn was when this knight meets what he thinks is a dragon in a forest. It's actually the escaped reptile carrying the parasites. The Knight is more than a bit surprised. Not that he isn't openminded enough to believe in Dragons or anything. In fact he's had many a conversation on the topic with other Knights. Usually after a few beers. He has always wondered whether a jousting rod would be effective against a Dragon and now is his opportunity to find out.
I own the movie, it says lord of the rings. I got proof. Please Register or Log in to view the hidden image! This is the one I have. Please Register or Log in to view the hidden image!
I've got the animated version of it, but that swecond pic you posted is obviously a photoshopped pic you made Please Register or Log in to view the hidden image!
how many Lord of the darn Ring movies do they need to make...I am sick of it already...the characters are almost all gay, the inadequate behavior of creatures and immoral actions of characters are disturbing as well
The first one is a poster and the second one is a cover picture. I didn't photoshop it. Too bad that I can't show you the movie that I own.
I dscovered a british scifi writer called Ken Mcleod fairly recently. He's written quite a few rather good books (and a couple of stinkers too) - but 2 that stand out as movie worthy are Learning the World - a story of first contact between Advanced humans and Bat-like mammals of approximately eary 20th century tech level - which has more than enough cool stuff and plot twists and turns to make a movie thats visual and has a plot, and The Execution Channel, a slight alternative near future political thriller (with a very whacky ending)
