    this is also wrong.
    glass cracks due to the expansion rate of the glass.
    if the glass cannot expand uniformly then the glass cracks.
    this is why heat resistant glass is thin walled.

    Regarding boiling water in thin glassed container.
    You can also use a paper bag, for the same reason.

    although maybe the OP didnt learn a cent from all this, I certainly did, not that its useful in my life later on.

    perhaps if you have a 100 HF you could boil it in a container made of Calcium fluoride
