    Those sums are obviously wrong.

    10 - 12 = -2

    -10 - -12 = 2

No, 0 is neither positive nor negative.

    Correct

    See my first reply.
    Correct. 2 is the answer.

Then you are saying your time.
    1 - 1 = 0. Right
    10 - 12 = 0. Wrong

    -1 - -1 = 0 right
    -10 - -12 = 0 wrong

I can assure you that is not the answers rpenner got, he can do arithmetic.

The correct answers are the ones I gave earlier.

Read the link I provided if you are having problems

Zero is both a non-negative and non-positive integer, but it isn't negative or positive.

    The list of non-negative integers include zero (0 +1 +2 +3 ...), just like the list of non-positive integers include zero (0 -1 -2 -3 ...).

But neither the list of positive nor the list of negative integers include zero. Only the list of non-positive and non-negative integers include zero.

I know, then how can you say the answer to
    10 - 12 = -2
is -2 when we are working in positive integers. -2 is not a positive integer...

I know, then how can you say the answer to
    -10 - -12 = 2
is 2 when we are working in negative integers. 2 is not a negative integer...

I know, Im going to try make it positive and negative and see if it works.

If we are working in positive integers then you are limited to 1,2,3,4,5,etc... for the answer. Im trying to make it 0,1,2,3,4,5,etc... for the answer.

    Which one makes more sense?
    1 - 1 = 0

    or

    1 - 1 = 1

If I have 1 and I take 1 away, then I do not have any. That means 0.
If I have 1 apple and I take away that 1 apple then, I do not have any apples. That means 0 apples.

I am sorry this is confusing you so.
