I think so... He does actually sound like he's an undiagnosed Aspie, judging from what he says about making the effort to adopt normal social behaviours but failing.
Sure! *gives you an ASD injection* I'm not sure I'm a proper member...but I do have very marked ASD tendencies. Even someone who has A-syndrome himself notices that I misread things...So I'll claim membership of the pack. Ah, fair enough, I didn't read anything where he said he was diagnosed. Hang with a group for a few hours. If you mess up, take things literally, forget to use body language (apparently I do this, I don't tend to use my hands to express myself) and don't know when to say something or not say something, you have it. You should also be developing profoundly linear thought patterns, and feel severely agitated or overloaded if you have to concentrate in more than one direction. You probably have ASD, then.. Are you also very maladaptive, and hate changing your lifestyle in any way? Do you hyperfocus on things to the point of blocking the world out? Do you have weird motor mannerisms, like incessantly drumming with your hands or rolling your head from side to side, that you do unconsciously?
I can't believe I'm laughing about this, the general subject of ASD was tearing me up a few days ago. Yay for morbid humour!!! Please Register or Log in to view the hidden image!
Everyone messes up sometimes. I don't mess up particularly often. Check Nope, I use some although not excessively. Can you be more specific ? Example ? Sometimes, but it depends on the situation. I'm very good adapting to temporary situations. Depends, I can if I don't have much of a choice, but it won't be voluntary. Sometimes. To what extent did you mean that ? It's not like I don't hear people when they call me. Nope. I guess I'm in the clear then ?
I mean do/say something socially inappropriate and not know about it. Who do you socialize with? Your English is impressive, but you are Dutch, and you probably hear English through a 'Dutch filter' - hear first in English and mentally translate. Like not know if you should say something or if it's socially 'wrong'. Being able to concentrate in one direction only, and think about only one thing at a time. Coudl be you just like your lifestyle, could be an ASD trait, but everyone has some of those, it's how many and how intense that can make it a disorder. Very heavily, to the point that you don't think about or pay attention to anything else? Not a psychologist but I would say so. Please Register or Log in to view the hidden image!
Well, obviously that happens every once in a while. But it's not like it's a problem. I don't do that more than the average person, even less so I think. Who do I socialize with ? What do you mean ? Thanks Please Register or Log in to view the hidden image! No, I don't consciously translate. I just think in English really.. It's hard for me to switch back to Dutch even Please Register or Log in to view the hidden image! No, that hardly ever happens. It happens sometimes in extremely emotional situation, but I just shut up then. Hmm I think I do that. Not sure. I think it's pretty normal to resist change if it's forced though. Yep, when I'm photographing. It's just me and the subject then. Yay !! Please Register or Log in to view the hidden image!
Varda, I am not self diagnosing. I already explained that thought I do have very marked ASD traits, I don't know if it's actual A-syndrome, and I don't claim to have it for sure. I didn't fucking diagnose Enmos. Did you not even notice that part of my post where I said: 'Not a psychologist but I would say so'?? I would never tell someone in seriousness that I thought they had a disorder. I guess I should have used a smiley to make it obvious I was messing when I said 'You probably have ASD then.'
How do we determine the difference between a pattern of natural responses to problematic social conditions from a 'mental illness' residing in a single skull?
One deals with reality, while mental illness is marked by a separation from and an inability to discern reality from delusion.
