    Sum Over Futures

Sum Over Futures (SOF) is the CTMU interpretation of quantum mechanics. In SOF, quantum phenomena are not random (acausal), but obey higher-order causal invariants. These invariants tend to maximize generalized utility as the universe evolves. Langan observes that due to quantum uncertainty,

The answer, he writes, is neither "randomness" nor distributed laws of causality, but rather higher-order causation, involving nonrandom temporally-extensive relationships not wholly attributable to distributed laws. In this picture, the universe sums over timelines to extract the utility of possible futures and selects the most utile configurations for actualization. This "sum over futures" is enabled by the Extended Superposition Principle (ESP) under the guidance of the Telic Principle.

Sum over futures involves an atemporal (existing or considered without relation to time) generalization of “process” (from past participle stem of procedure "go forward"), telic recursion (before determining the next state, Reality takes all of the past and future into account and then chooses a particular state on the basis of its own values), through which the universe (Reality) effects on-the-fly (as time passes, in other words, at every moment) maximization of a global (over all of Reality) self-selection parameter (measurement), generalized utility (what the universal Desire hopes to achieve).

The CTMU is based on the premise that not only does life evolve, but the universe does as well. And the collapse of the wave-function plays a fundamental role in its evolution. In other words, it is atemporally communicating between past, present and future in order to maximize a quantifiable self-selection parameter to produce the best outcomes. The Uncertainty Principle states that pairs of properties of particles such as position and momentum cannot be determined simultaneously, this then leads us to the conclusion that reality branches off into many possible futures. This is good news, because if it atemporally communicated a doomed future for mankind it can always retroactively adjust itself for the greater good. It appears that the CTMU is empirical after all.

This theory appears to be an intuition of the way the two sides of the brain process data, differently. The left brain is more differential and rational defining reality as theories on 2-D cause and effect planes. The right brain is more integral and 3-D and adds an extra z-axis to the 2-D planes of cause and effect. The future will allow humans to use the 3-D processing ability of the right brain and apply this to science.

Picture 3-D thoughts as analogous to a 3-D ball. We can approximate this ball with a large number of planes all intersecting a common center, but a various angles. Each of these planes represent a rational plane that is centered on a common topic; POV. Each person has its own unique angle on the subject.

The 3-D ball is the sum of all these rational POV, since each contain truth but none contain the entire 3-D truth. But as a team, the group approximates 3-D, even though each person may not see themselves on the same team; competitors. They are a team in 3-D (z-connection) but not in 2-D (x/y), due to perception from differential the left brain; they are a unique slope POV.

Say I whacked the ball with a golf club. The ball will distort in 3-D, causing all the planes to move out of place. This change in 3-D will appear to defy the rules of cause and effect for all plane and may be called random for all the planes. But is was not random, but followed logic in 3-D.

More conscious use of the right brain is the future of human evolution, with 3-D neural organization, applied to science, able to generate 3-D balls (theories) that unite the planes of science to give even random in 2-D a logic in 3-D.

People sense this but are still trying to use 2-D logic to approximate 3-D. This is shown below. This is called a spatial image. It is 2-D or flat, but looks like 3-D to the eyes. If you touch it with your finger; tactical sense, you can prove it is 2-D. The illusion of 3-D is created by highlights and shadows. These are connected to the emotions and intuitions induced in the right brain to trigger the right brain so it can give the 3-D overlap. But this is not the same as using the right brain to process the many rational planes. There is no rule in science that requires we calibrate to make sure which we are doing.

What happens though if you have a thousand people observing the same object ?

Say we had one thousand people, viewing the same object. In this case, this object has never been seen before. Each person will see the same thing, in a general sense, since the light reflects off the object the same for all and enters standard human eyes. Where they will differ is in how the filters of their minds will process this input data. This will impact which details pop out to them, first.

Some may notice color first, while others the shape or the texture. Some will stick to only the objective details, while others will subjectivity extrapolate beyond the immediate object into use or probable cause. All this data will be various left brain language planes that intersect the common center; the object, with the sum of all these POV, the 3-D ball.

After the brain storming stemming from the thousand people, to form the 3-D ball, I take a symbolic golf club and hit the 3-D to deform it, knocking planes out of place. I tell everyone this object was from outer space and was recovered by the space shuttle several years ago. Nobody is sure of its origin. As the ball flexes back and vibrates, new planes appear from old planes as the 3-D ball reaches a new steady state.
