Its a valid argument. Would an atheist lie if he could get three years knocked off his sentence in Jesustan? Would he attend Bible studies if it got him out of laundry duties? You bet.

Besides, statistics don't always tell the whole story:

Most parole requirements require detainees to go through rehabilitation programs that require them to show intent to repent or reform, most of these are run by prison chaplains. Joining a church in prison gets you privileges, something else to do, a support system. Parole officers are obviously more willing to listen to those who show repentance than those who cannot find jesus or think he's a myth. Common sense, really.

So there are more poor and uneducated people in prison? Are they also more likely to be black?

I think also people, especially in the poorer classes tend to check the box Christian or whatever, the same way they check Caucasian, etc.

If you ask them if they believe in loving God and pray and that the route to heaven is through Jesus,
I think the statistics for prisoners would change significantly.

The question is taken as a cultural one, not as a paradimn oriented one.

Once you get up in the middle classes and people with more education, the question is taken in a different way, more often.

This latter group is underrepresented in prison.

their crimes are committed by proxy and their lawyers are better and juries tend to be less afraid of them.

    Why? Because you say so?

And, you have plenty of data to back up those claims? I didn't think so

They do only when you say the do and when they suit your Islamic propaganda agenda.

    Your opinion, really.

You see, Sam, it's those types of statements that demonstrate your agenda of propaganda, racism and bigotry.

The words quoted were NOT "poor and uneducated," those were words YOU made up to further your agenda, hence why you put "black" as a category, again to distract from the subject matter, changing it to mean something completely different.

The words quoted were "superstition and ignorance," Sam.

So the people in prison are rich and educated but superstitious and ignorant? I put in black to make you think. As usual it went over your head.

Here is some evidence in support of my thesis:

    http://www.corrections.sa.gov.au/chaplaincy/

All prisons have resident ministers, chaplains, imams etc which report to the parole board the progress of the prisoner. Prisoners who are religious attend weekly "indoctrination" sessions that are a form of support to help them reform.

No Sam, you did no such thing, you are lying, as usual.

No Sam, it does not support your propaganda agenda in the least. No mention of lying atheists, years knocked off or getting out of laundry duty.

And, your link was an example of you once again NOT demonstrating your claim. Give it up, Sam.

What I see is you making claims that you can't support, literally. Give it up, Sam.

I think the evidence of a prison inmate finding religion just before his parole hearing makes my point adequately.

Everyone is selfish. It can't be avoided.
Most people are inherently very selfish & myopic.

I think the evidence of prison inmates believing in gods before committing crimes blunts your "point" adequately.

All children are born without any evil, it is only taught to them through their parents and others they encounter along the way of growing up.

Lets hear your alternate theory on why the inmate would find religion just before his parole hearing

The vast majority of convicts who claim to be or to have recently been atheist are misusing the word.
Some even claim to worship Santa yet call themselves atheist. Absurd.
