I was attacked in '08 for havin an Obama yard sign. The dude lived three houses down and evidently got into a slow boil over seeing the sign "too close to my fucking house!" He barged into my house and started screaming at my 75 year old mother. I hit him in the back of the head with a pipe wrench and called the cops.

The fun part: I was a federal employee at the time, working from home. That got the FBI involved. He' still in prison so far as I know.

part of the problem with top positions of power in the usa is they are used as golden drunk parachutes for old madding patriarchal men to strut around in a military pants pointing and shouting at things while the rest of the administration try and keep them out of the way and parade them out for media events.

while the administration was not completely shot to hell it probably worked to some extent, but the power of the office has gained more and more power with the power of the internet.
now the president to collapse the national financial market in one tweet before breakfast.

now more people are probably worried about that thinking, why dont we keep the broken thing we know is broken rather than risking getting a new one that we dont know how it works
