im a sort of vegan, ie; no animal products except for dairy. id say the best advice i can give you would be to find a list of E numbers* sorted by vegan suitability. i can assure you that just because an ingredient sounds artificial or herbal, doesnt mean it is.

They are. Plants and mushrooms have a much lower form of life though than animals. I remember when we had to kill a cow ( she had a serious microbial infection, wont go into details) she knew she was going to die. I could see the awareness in her eyes, and she was crying.

 

No its not. Why would it be? Is it wrong of them to eat us?

Ever try to get eggs out from under a chicken and have one peck you? It hurts!!

I am not a farm girl remember. Always been a city girl. The only eggs I get are in a carton, along with my BAGGED milk LOL

 

Yeah I know. I worked for a poultry industry. Chickens die of stress too you know. you could lose loads of money if you are not careful.

yeh well apparently vegans can only eat whole-wheat bread..
i have no idea really. if anyone could find a site that says anything about bread that would be awesome, coz ive looked and looked but i cant find anything.

bread doesnt actually contain animal products(other than those specifically stated in the ingredients) but in some breads the chemical L-cysteine(currently sourced from chicken feathers) is used as a flour improver and evapourates out of the bread during baking, making it exempt from ingredient listings.

so while animals were killed in the process, there arent any animal products in the finished product; leaving it up to your own moral standards as to whether it is acceptable.

sugar is quite similar; some white sugars are purified using bone ash, so while you are buying pure sugar, it is possible that animals were killed to produce it. if you want to stay safe on this one you're best to stick with brown or natural sugars, although if you have the time to call up the producer they can probably tell you whether they purify their sugar through this process.
