In MTW multiplayer you could in teori(1960*8 players) get around 16000 men on the battlefield, teori bacause its will start to lag

    .
In singleplay i had fielded 10-20k vs 10-20K armies, but only with a max of 16 units on the battlefield at a time(a unit being everything from 20 to 200 men).

BTW, check out Ground Control 2, look promising for a RTS

I loved the trailer for GC2. Never got into the original but the CGI in the trailer was awesome. I probably won't get it

You could get quite a nice amount of troops on the field in MTW too.

    I loved those battles.

You have never lived until you play MTW...

I bought the viking extension pack twice because I once left it somewhere by accident. That should tell you something. I bought an extension pack twice and didn't feel bad about it.

naa i gues MTW is to difficult for most, so they stick to easy RTS games

I said it wasn't my bag because of the setting. Not a fan of historic (unless WW2) games.

beta testing FoM should be a nice change in the weather.
it's supposed to be a heavily role playing based mmorpg

ahh, they call it a addon pack, but in reality it's a new game you have to buy, with new interface, improved graphical engine and graphics, the gameworld is 1/2 bigger than it was and hacking will now have a whole new perspective (visual 3D cyberspace, Neuromancer, Tron like environment). In the current version the role of a hacker is somewhat useless, but it'll have a whole new perspective in the new version of the game.
I'm a hardcore roleplayer, so loading myself with guns and all day blasting monsters isn't my pref.
The new hacker role will give me a chance to be a cyberspy

(hack into corporations, steal info, teleport in their secret HQ, etc.) In the shadows does Avatar sneak.
the thing I've always wanted to do.

well, it's a mmorpg and as all moorpg's it is being sold for a monthly fee. and it is normal, because you have to have servers constantly up and running, develop in game events, etc, etc

How come everyone else can just sell the game in the box and still keep the game alive online? Okay, not everybody else but some of them do.

    Christ...

If I run into some money I may play. Until then, I turn my nose from it.

darn, my internet connection was lost!
    ---
simple FPS games - yes, but not mmorpg's
there is a huge difference in the costs and staff involvement

How many people are willing to fork out that much money at the moment?
