To be frank, I'm too tired to give a long winded explanation, so I'll let it suffice to say that a lot was covered when Christ said Tetelestai. It isn't about cherry picking bits and pieces, so much as it is remembering that these are the words written by Man from that time; times change, but the Commandments, the final laws, make just as much sense today as they did then. To that I say I am sorry you feel that way... and would challenge you to prove your statement that Christ has not, in fact, returned. It is an interesting thought experiment. I am concerned that you would abandon your trust in a child simply because they did not keep a singular promise - after all, they are but a child, and should be taught rather than simply cast aside for such a mistake.
