I was talking to my friend recently about petitions forwarded to congress about legalizing pot and how it would affect drug dealers. He laughed and commented that the "dealers would just sell more [psychedelic] mushrooms."

This started me thinking. What does everybody think would happen to the small-business pot dealers if their crop was legalized? I personally like my friend's theory that they'd move up to the next illegal drug choice, while not quite as hardcore as crack, meth, etc., and that area of sale would increase. Lets hear it.

interesting point, my first thought was 'would they be able to compete with the lowered cost of legalized drugs', but if they make pot too affordable, might there be too many stoners?

i'd think a lot of people are blindly prejudiced against drugs, if they were able to try it legally and did so, they'd definitely want to try other things.
