So you say. But is a nine month "fetus" that different from a newborn for having passed thru the birth canal? What about an eight month fetus? When do they become "babies"? It's a slippery slope. Well, we seem to have a couple of topic here (which impression I am forming is fairly normal for this place). Anyhow: I will agree about the “raging bitch” part. But she is a a raging bitch with a doctorate and as such, hardly dumb. Annoying as all hell but you have to admit that she has much nicer legs that her opponent, Michael Moore – who in his turn is a man trying to turn himself into a jelly donut. Now this bit has always sickened me. Everyone has an opinion on the rights and wrongs of abortion – as do I. Personally, I find the whole thing creepy. One side seems to be in favor of keeping the worthless scum who commit grievous crimes alive while at the same time supporting the “right” to decide which deaths are acceptable. The other side seems to be stuck on grossing people out with examples of how babies can be 95% out of the womb only to have their brains sucked out. Both sides sicken me. “Oh no! This is terrible, we need a new law!” seems to be the refrain from both side. Yet few people are coming out on the side of morals and common decency. There are millions of couple who are never going to have children of their own and because it takes them years of trying before they accept the fact only to go on a waiting list for adoption that is just as long, we have adoptive parents getting their first child when they are in their 40's. I see people on the news standing in front of the clinics holding up signs that say abortion==Murder. I don't see those same people advocating for more orphanages and a streamlined adoption process so that childless couples can have kids they desperately want to raise ten years earlier. Kids who could be raised in households that would love and cherish them in a way that perhaps the natural mothers would not be able to? I see people advocating that women should be free to do with their bodies as they see fit and I also see parents allowing their 14 year old daughters out in public dressed like tramp sluts. Then when they exercise the cherished freedom to do with their bodies, they march them off to the doctor for one more exercise of that freedom. How about raising your kids to respect their bodies in the first place so that we don't have so many unplanned pregnancies?
You entirely missed the point of Mystech's post. We don't need so many immigrants. We're not bringing in immigrants to boost the population growth and help our economy out. Our population growth is not being hindered too badly from abortions at all. Abortions have been legal in the US since the 70s (if I'm not mistaken), and both the population growth and economy have fared well, especially during the last two presidential administrations. So it appears there is a point arguing.
