And in case if anyone's wondering, all the Animorphs ebooks are available from animorphsfanforum.com.

Rachel is the one who dies. I am 13 and my frien has almost all the books and the libray here where we live has the last book. it was sad to find out rachel dies because she (besides marco) was my favorite.

16-19 were probably not the best, no. They weren't too bad. 20-22 was a bit more interesting due to changing the status quo, but overall the problem with the series at that point was that it sort of turned into a TV show in that you'd have "episodes" where the entire book would more or less end in status quo. But to be perfectly honest, this sort of happened after 4, the Message. After Ax joined the group (their "Data"), the series becomes less and less dynamic and more and more static (even if 24 The Suspicion was incredibly funny and full of Trek references) as the series wore on.

Really, we had hit sort of bad Trek level plots at some point (not bad books per say, just bad plots) with fewer changes. It stayed that way till like, book 49 The Diversion that the Yeerks realized that the Animorphs weren't Andalites and the following six books are really good. It's a pity that we didn't get to see that earlier. Even still, most of the books are good between 24-49, but some of them are really bad (ie, Rachel getting clones, but Tobias in another going through torture and then there was Megamorphs #3 time travel which was fantastic...and Megamorphs #2 and #4 that weren't...).

All in all, a good series, but a great deal of important plot points are spread throughout the series, so it's had to pick and choose which ones between 24-49 to read. All in all though, if you've read to #30, you'll probably be fine to skip the next 18. Anything you don't know will be recapped enough so that you don't have to get the full story.

EDIT: Actually, start at 45, I forgot about the Marco-father issue then.

Lmao. I use to get those books from book catalogs, and read them in class just to look at the cool picture on the front of each book.
