I believe it is inevitable that organisms of artificial origin will dominate the world. Human is just one moment of history.

3: act to preserve itself

When you look at it, most people do the same things day in and day out and only change their routine when it needs to be, how this is different from an automaton I do not know or care to really get in to. You can argue that something wont be intelligent, but then you have to question what makes up the term of a living and nonliving thing and sentience and all of that which is just a big bother.
