Can anyone think of a contemporary, well known American that behaves and acts in ways akin to a zen master or sage? And by this I don't necessarily mean someone practices, etc. But someone who possess that sort of nature.

    I couldn't think of one.

The type of people who try to emulate sages, or are sagely action-wise, are varely rarely well known. You might have to do a bit of research. Sages are just harder to come by these days.

Perhaps Native Americans would come close to that type of thinking, at least some of them.

    Me! oh, you said well-known.
,in fact it is a common occurance, and not a cause for any undue reverence. You have the same nature, even if you do not yet recognize it.

    How about Alan Watts?
