Okay, I've made a post, I've responded to some else's post. I hit "enter" (or whatever it is that I hit), and the computers post my response in the thread just like it should. Everything is fine, right? Okay ......but how do I get back to that particular forum's main page ....without.... scrolling all the way back to the top of the thread to clich on "sciforums" or the appropriate forum link? Baron Max
You could open the thread links in new windows, then after you've made any responses - or not, as the case may be - you can just close that window and go back to perusing whatever subforum you were looking at. When you place the cursor on the link, click the right button instead of the left, then left click on 'Open In New Window'. A downside is that any reply won't be shown as the last post in the thread until/unless you refresh the forum page (click the browser's 'refresh page' button, or the F5 key on the keyboard).
Well Vbulletin software as standard has Accesskey's, these are meant for disabled people that are using different equipment to a mouse and keyboard to access websites but can also be used as keyboard short cuts for normal users. Currently there is no standardised use of them on websites (Mainly because self-proclaimed website developers know very little about making websites accessible to different people as they concentrate more on making them look visually acceptable through cross-browser compatibility). Unfortunately the main site lacks an Accesskey for Home (Which should be on IE: Alt+1 and on Firefox: Alt+Shift+1) You could of course use Alt+Left Arrow for Back in either browser to back up to the main page, of course you'd lose the ability to move Forwards through the pages you'd previously been if you pick a new link to open a page. What is available however for Accesskey pages is: Code: Search IE: Alt+4 Firefox: Shift+Alt+5 New posts IE: Alt+2 Firefox: Shift+Alt+5 You will likely have to use the TAB key with them to cycle through any other dropdown menus. Of course you'd probably find it quicker just using SAM's method of causing the scrolling of the page to be HOMEd
Don't you have a Home button? That takes you up to the top (no scrolling) and from there you can click on the forum...
And additionally if you use this Home button Please Register or Log in to view the hidden image! be sure to switch off Num Lock first

Since we are all being very pedantic, why not add that you can bookmark sciforums. Bookmarking allows you to pick any page and have a link either in the dropdown bookmarks on the browser or you can have them appear on your browser toolbar. (Firefox calls it bookmark, IE terms it "Favorites")
