"In the oral session, except for one presentation that was clearly pro plate tectonics, and another one that did not address the issue of global and large scale geology specifically, there was general consensus that subduction, and therefore plate tectonics, is mechanically impossible." -- Stavros T. Tassos (geophysicist) and Karsten M. Storetvedt (geophysicist), November 2007

That's because you're not a seismologist. I know him. He's not a kook. He's one of the most important scientists alive.

    Are you a seismologist? Wow!

I'm a philosopher. Theories are my friends, not my enemies.

I'm in the process of becoming a seismologist.

The physics of the Earth's interior is the future of science.

    Beware of Greeks bearing myths.

Ah. Interesting. A professional philosopher, eh? What's your particular area of interest?

    Change of career then?

I'd be more worried about getting climate change under control first.

    Truth. It's my specialty.

Yes. I am fascinated by the fact that 20th century scientists are more fundamentalist and dogmatic than the 17th century Catholic Church or Al Qaeda.

How do you plan on getting at least 15,000 years of methane release from hundreds of thousands of chimneys under control? Natural gas is part of the environment. Why do you need to control it? Ego?

    OIM:

What a shame you can't give a straight answer. Now I'm thinking you're a liar about your profession.

Yet you want to become a scientist yourself and join the fundamentalism? Interesting.

This is far too complex a topic to address in a few words.

I suggest you do some brief research on suggestions for addressing global warming yourself. There are plenty of easy-to-find resources available on the web, that ought to suit a beginner such as yourself.

Then you don't understand anything about philosophy. My profession is money maker. My area of interest is truth.

Mythology isn't really my area of interest.

That's because you rely upon prejudice and a priori fundamentalism rather than observation and science.

Well, I sent an e-mail to Mr. Tassos. Hopefully he speaks English and will grace us with his thoughts in person.

He speaks great English. But you might want to try reading the available papers before you bother him.

On the contrary, I rely on my observation of your posts to date.

You're repetitive and single-track. You continually recycle the few quotes you have that seem to support your position. You can't accept correction when you are wrong. You misrepresent the views of others deliberately. You ignore all evidence that is contrary to your own position, rather than addressing it head-on. You demonstrate an immaturity of knowledge though your obvious lack of appreciation of many established facts. You have the single-minded fundamentalist stance typical of an adolescent male. You claim qualifications and expertise for yourself that apparently you do not possess.

Example please? I happily admit when I'm wrong. The reason why I post here is I desire to be proven wrong.

Examples please? A word of friendly advice: you ought to spend as much time researching science as you do preparing ad hominem attacks.
