I start this thread in response to the massive outpouring of opinion to the following thread:

    http://www.sciforums.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=18948

The thread involves the issue of shaving body hair. The surface conflict of this thread argued over aesthetic concerns. However, the real issue was one of feminism. The deeper issue, which was ignored in a superficial argument involving alot of personal attacks was the argument of womens sexuality. The issue had nothing to do with racey sexually explicit material. The argument should have been over feminism and the recognition and acceptance of womens sexuality.

The issue being addressed was brought up in Eve Enstler's "The Vagina Monologues" as everyone already probably knows. The thread should not have gone into the areas of horrid misunderstanding and personal attacks.

    My basic points are these:

*Take away all the aesthetic issues and look at the thread from a primary basic ideological feminist point of view.

*The main issue was not oral sex, or even pediphilioism, but involved the deeper and more troubling issue of the acceptance of womens sexuality.(thats the issue the play brought up anyway)

*Lastly, free speech must be cherished, and a thread that dares to defy modern views and challenges peoples security levels should be cherished on this forum. The thread had an intellectual base, therefore it should not have been closed.

-Understanding is the greatest medium to express and find beauty.-
