You betcha, I defrag twice a week minimum and virus scan at start up. Why take chances with something like this?

... Mmmmmm, quite so, quite so. Must confess, I'm of a similar disposition myself when it comes to such matters. De-frag daily, check her over for errors first thing, even chase out the crap in mouse once a week.

Runs sweet as a nut ever since I put her together.

Mind, if I had all that RAM, I'd bladdy well expect her behave like a lady.

That being said though, not going to post a system readout of my old girl. The instant y'do, that's the instant she'll decide to throw a strop sure as mustard...

You could always get a P5 Glove instead of the mouse, although now adays there seems to be alsorts of RFID devices and motion sensored methods of communicating with the computer.

I'm satisfied with mr mouse for it serves me well when I'm designing stuff or doing graphic work. It has 6 different buttons that controll everything I do so why switch now. The glove looks interesting but it needs a battery which I dislike, I'd rather have the wires for I don't move much away from the PC when I'm on it. I might get a wireless keyboard in a few years though. Thanks for the 411 on the glove.

I'm trading that in for 4 GIG's because the newer games will be needing it. I like the Star Wars Battlefront game, it has so much going on and the landscapes blow me away. Lucas Arts really put together a fine series of games lately and I'd recommend them to all. Really fun to play, it's almost like being in the movies! Next year there's going to be even more complex things you can do while playing a Star Wars game and I'm looking forward to them arriving.

Y'do realise don't you, they put a crew on the moon with 16mb of computer memory...

But they weren't playing video games that use over 2 GIGS of SDRAM to really run right. Anything less and the gamers will leave you in the dust!

Well, at least computers don't need rocket fuel and radiation shielding.

  16. Yet, old man... Yet. Although they do require the radiation shielding, just not quite yet the lethal sort...

No, it's just a thing of mine with PC's and games - first computer I ever had was an old Atari 500, 1 mb internal memory, hard drive was an optional external fitting extra. Never got m'paws on one. Incredibly the damn thing actually worked - played games, did word processing, even basic graphics. 1 mb the lot, that's running a printer and colour monitor.

    1 mb.

These days I've got three rigs, 2G processors a piece, 248 mb RAM on each. I walk into a game shop, pick a game at random and I've got to stand there like a lemon squinting at the box trying to figure out weather or not something that'll handle seriously high end graphics can cope with whatever sneak-em-up it is I've got m'eye on...

Is m'graphics card fast enough, do I have enough RAM, will I need to upgrade anything just for the privilege of being able to play this fine purchase, etc, etc...

Then I say to m'self, Self, sod that for a game of soldiers, pick up the PS2 version of the same thing and just play it...

Quite true however the rest of us have to deal with living on this planet and finding ways that we can amuse ourselves without harming the environment to much. What better ways than to have a virtual reality game that takes you into space to explore the cosmos? I don't have to ever leave my home to have a great adventure although I do go out from time to time of course but just not as much. I can stream the latest movies or read the books online also. The more things that can be done with a PC will let people stay at home instead of going out and paying high prices for gas, movies and books to name but a few.

I don't like ebooks. They are not comfortable to read, besides you can't take them with you to bath or seaside.
I don't like them so much I've even bought many books in printed form that I have as ebooks.
