    But you can't actually feel the coarseness, you can only see it.

    Isn't that more to do with the printing paper than the film?

    Yes, its the paper that makes the difference with print film unlike digital which you can use techniques to get the "look" but not the "feel".

    I'm not quite sure what you mean. Once I have a digital image whether from a digital camera or from scanning a film, I can then print that on many different types of paper, some with texture some without. Or send the images to a commercial print facility.

    So have I missed something here?
