Overnight my time, there has been an earthquake of 7.1 on the Richter scale which has affect Honduras and Belize. It was at a relatively shallow focus, and has caused quite a bit of damage.

Just had a measly 3.2 quake 15 KM form me 15 minutes ago that shook my building fairly hard.

Even though my building is on good rock I don't trust this building to make it through "the big one".

That earthquake, according to the USGS website, was 1 km NNW of El Cerrito, CA; FYI, there hasn't been a really major eathquake in southern California since 1690.

Actually, it occurred to me that with LA being the movie capital of the USA, there must be literally scores of screen-tests that would have disrupted by the occasional earthquake over the decades, and thousands of feet of film in various archives showing those moments. It might be quite entertaining to seek it out and put it together as a film-history of California's 20th Century geological shenanigans.
