"Arkansas game officials hope testing scheduled to begin Monday will solve the mystery of why up to 5,000 birds fell from the sky just before midnight New Year's Eve.
The birds -- most of which were dead -- were red-winged blackbirds and starlings, and they were found within a one-mile area of Beebe, about 40 miles northeast of Little Rock, "

In addition not very far 100K fish of the same spieces died of so far unknown disease.

Experts say the 2 events are unrelated and the birds death is blamed on either tornado or a nearby firework display...

Interestingly there was a mysterious case of a flock of 100 starlings falling dead from the sky in the UK Mar2010 Grisly mystery after scores of starlings fall out of the sky and lie dying... in a SINGLE front garden. Cryptid beast imo, scared by the earthquake the day before. Bless it's little cotton socks.

    Thousands of dead crabs now

Piles of crabs have been washing up on England beaches along the rocky Thanet Coast in recent days, a phenomenon that has puzzled scientists for the past few years.

"It's been a phenomenon for probably a third year in a row," Tony Child, Thanet Coast project manager, told LiveScience. He estimated about 25,000 of the dead velvet swimming crabs (Necora puber) were in piles this year, where birds are now ferociously feeding on their carcasses.

Last year, about 40,000 of the crabs washed ashore on the Thanet Coast, which is a long coastline of chalk reefs in Kent, England. This year, more starfish also washed ashore.

The velvet swimming crab has bright red eyes, with a coat of fine hair on its shell giving it a velvety texture. The crabs come closer to shore at this time of year, Child said, where they feed on the seaweed.

That looks to me like the work of a bot - it copied a line from a post in another thread and posted it here.

Hundreds of birds just dropped dead from the sky here in sweden, they say it's because they were shocked by fireworks (it was during new years eve) but why doesn't it happen more often then? I heard the same thing happened in the US about the same time, coincidence?

EDIT: Just read your post NMSquirrel! Wow, what's up with this, thousands of birds dropped from the sky in Italy also! First I could digest the coincidence explanation but now I'm just trying to throw that up in the trashcan. Anyone know what's going on?
