Its based on the Graphic Novel by Frank Miller (Sin City, the man responsible for saving Daredevil and Batman).

    He's a savor. A god amongst men.

History question (lazy to look it up): How many Spartians were those 300 exactly?

    Syzygys---

I think it was 300 exactly. I remember a lecture in high school---the teacher had a master's degree in history (specifically wars), and LOVED the spartans. I remember him devoting a whole class to this lecture, and seem to remember him emphasizing that the number was 300.

This is probably 12 years ago, though, so memories are hazy.

Was I on a non-righteous path before? Are you talking about the watching porn thread? If so, then I will counter with the "I go to grad school in Ohio and my girlfriend goes to med school in Texas" argument. I can't fly to San Antonio EVERY weekend.

There were 300 Elite Spartans, and 7000 troops from somewhere else (rome maybe)? I just watched a whole program on this battle last night on History channel, but I was too fucked up to remember much of it!

Wow, I just saw some preview clips of that movie "300". Is it, can it be, the most violent, bloody, deadly, most horrenously violent film ever in the history of mankind???

Geez, I thought "The Last of the Mohicans" was bloody and violent ....wow, it ain't nothin' compared to "300".

Last of the Mohicans? That's ancient. Apocalypto, Sin City and alot of other films really make Mohicans look like mild Saturday morning TV fare.

Yeah, Wiki says the same. Also the Persians attacked in 10K waves, so at any given time there wasn't such a huge difference...

If you guys are interested in the history but find straight history too dry to read try Steven Pressfields "Gates of Fire" very entertaining read.
