what the heck ever happened to all the 2d fightning games? i remember back in the day, i'd play street fighter and various SNK games. SF was absolutely awesome, it still is. i stil lhave II TURBO for SNES. Samurai showdown was awesome as well and so was KoF. I dunno what happened to all teh fighting game fans. I don't really like the new 3d fighters. Tekken is ok. Virtua Fighter is better than tekken. None of these hold teh amount of technique and skill needed to win in the aforementioned 2d games. The only 3d fightning game remotely even coming close to the old school 2d games is Soul Calibur. I guess we know who the hardcore fightning game fans are now. God bless SF and may 2d live forever.

SF 3rd strike is very good, except i think it could've been a lot better. There was no innovation in it whatsoever. No isms like in Alpha 3 which i hold truly dear to my heart. For the time it was made, i think there could've been major innovations that fighting game fans were looking for. It just didn't have it. HOwever, do'nt misunderstand me. SF 3rd Strike is still a great game.

    yeah that makes sense!

finnaly some people with some sense!
I actually went out and bought a dreamcast solely so i could buy that game and play it at home. it was soo worth it. I play as Ibuki or Makoto usually.

I still prefer 2d fighting to 3d fighting in general. the whole SF franchise is my favorite. I've got alpha 2 and 3 as well. not quite as good at those thought.

well one thing spacemanspiff, shame on you for solely buying a dreamcast for sf3. Dreamcast is my FAVORITE system. i like it better than all the other systems. (i have the three major systems now

s2,gc,x.) i like dreamcast. it was a great system for fighting games. i would say it even rivals teh likes of neogeo or snes for fighting games. there were so many good games for dreamcast. may the dreamcast live on.

Dreamcast is the only system I respect more than Xbox. It was a gem, way ahead of it's time.

SNES comes next, in my book.

    Anyways...
The only games I love more than strategy are 2D fighting ones, mainly because they're just plain fun. The fight can go any which way, and they're always great when friends are over. God bless 'em. Though I prefer not to play computer OR console games anymore. >>I hate commercialism.

    2d vs 3d

i agree that 2d's are awesome but do not neglect the greatness of 3d's. the problem is that people have forgotten how great the 2d's were in light of 3d's. hardcore gamers realize that 3d isn't necessarily better, just different and vice versa. The game makes the game, not the dimensions. Who can rival the combo system of Killer Instinct 1 or the style and design of Soul blade/caliber characters? What single move can be used more effectively than Ryu's good ole fire ball? They all have different strong points. But there all great.

Though I haven't played it, lately I heard quite a bit of good comments about Guilty Gear X2 which is a 2D fighter on the PS2. I plan one buying when I have acquired the right funds.

Those SNK vs Marvel/Capcom/whatever or Marvel vs Capcom games are pretty recent.

Yea, every character is deranged in one way or another. One of the women is actually a man at the end of his/hers story.
