The Eastern USA was one of the few places which had lower average temperatures.
Some places even had the lowest recorded local temperature.
I hope that the people of the US will not be insular, and believe that local temperatures are more important than temperatures worldwide.

In the UK, we have also had the warmest year on record, but to be honest it didn't feel that hot. That's because we had a mild but stormy winter, followed by continually warm but not oppressive weather. It did not feel like an exceptional year.
In no single month were records broken, but the year as a whole is the warmest on record.

One of the objections of the opponents of Man-made-global-warming, is that temperatures have not risen in the last 15 years.
How does this tie in with the meteorologist's measurements?
