Ok, maybe some of you knew this, maybe not.

I emailed Mike Brown, discoverer of 2005 FY9 and asked for some details about the name he proposed (I also asked if it was ok to share and he didn't say not to! xD).

Apparently, the deity it will take the name of is a MALE BIRD/BIRD-RELATED deity!!!!!!

He says it shouldn't be long before the naming process is completed!

I didn't ask about 2003 EL61 or his other discoveries as I was mostly focused on this one, but I guess their naming processes should be over soon too.

Thanks, and if people need it I guess I can take a screenshot of the email as proof.

So the name will be... Horus? Quetzalcoatl? Donald Duck? Daffy? Big Bird?

lol After I got this tip I googled 'bird gods' and the first I got was Garuda (I specifically asked which culture the name came from and he wouldn't tell me anything), though, their could be dozens of male gods fitting some bird-related description with Egypt alone having Nekhbet, Mut, Horus, Ma'at and Thoth.

We're just gonna have to wait and see I'm afraid.

No, not Celaeno, half of what we know aout the identity is that it's male remember.

Yeah, i did think about that - but i quite fancy having Easterbunny renamed after a harpie.
(They don't get much of a plug nowadays.)

lol that's silly, but it'd have to be a 'creator harpy'
