    I like both its sheer physical and economical scaling.

    I think I want to start a gliderplane school overthere, the hot thermic bubble rising from the solar tower would lift you very high, maybe, if you have multiple solar towers, running from north to south Australia , seperated by tens of miles, you could glide from tower to tower and restore your altitude again, green transportation, imaging flying cross australia without spending fuel

    Doesn't Australia have sandstorms? If there's sandstorms wont the transparent solar collector get scratched and lower the efficiency? Slightly less than 200 megawatts wouldn't be that bad though.

    Mildura, on the Vic/NSW border wouldn't have too many sandstorms I wouldnt think, but I've never lived there. The studies say its feasable, so I'm assuming they've taken weather conditions and natural phenomena into account.
