how many of you have personally been to iraq?
all the things you know about it and saddam... how did you get to know these things?

i've personally never been there and never seen saddam except on TV and in books / news papers.

as far as i'm concerned, there is no such person and no such country.

Have you been to china? Have you been to japan? Have you been to austrailia? Have you been to South America? Have you been to Europe? Have you been to canada? Have you been to Tampa Bay Florida? Have you been to Miami? Have you been to Atlanta? Have you been to Cape Cod? Can you prove they exist without going there? Do they?

I'm sure the people who got blowed up by missles are happy to know that they don't exsist. Not exsisting is a very good pain killer.

Spymoose brings up a good point. Have you ever even tried to go to Iraq? This is an Argumentum Ad Ignorantum, you have never seen it, so it can not exist. Have you even tried to seek out Iraq on your own?

Then again, you may be right, I hear that Iraq in Arabic means "no nation here" so maybe it really is all just a smoke screen. Some lie told to us by the government and CNN.

my answer to that is "there was no Holocaust."

but he does say something worth discussing: "all the things you know about it and saddam... how did you get to know these things?"

good point. and this little theory of mine applies to the holocaust as well.

i started this thread because i'm getting pissed when ppl argue about iraq or other sensitive political issues, throwing "facts" at each other which they haven't verified for themselves, thinking that they're absolutely right just cause they read it somewhere or saw it on TV.

i was talking to this peace activist 2 months ago and he told me that Powell's report in the UN in february was full of mistakes cause he read in the news that one of the "chemical storage facilities" was infact a bakery.

it says so in the paper, so it must be true!

(should this maybe moved to the politics forum?)

It's kind of funny that a buddy of mine told me the same thing about Missouri when I was in Saudi Arabia.

Wherever you are - no place else exists.

Remember that. :D

there is no iraq

It is an upcoming wonder of virtual internet world: soon we will be able to filter away anything which doesn't really interests/concerns us. You will be able to make/buy a template which will allow into your browser only the info which you classify as desirable/welkom. eg. if you prefer a rosy picture of the world your filter will stop any info of unpleasant nature, deaths, wars, murders, divorces....so that your screen will allways shine with births, marriages, parties, bulls on stocks: I can assure you if there is still an Iraq now, it is not for long...

:bugeye: how can you really be sure anything is here. Ie. outdoors
you can see the outdoors from inside but how can you be sure that when you open your front door and step out you will be outside? tradition for tradition sake is not an argument.:bugeye:

Iraq was a British construct
there are many different elements (Kurds, Shias. etc ) that would agree with my view. Dont be so quick to dissmiss my understanding of this region.
The west is learning. Alls for the better

as far as i'm concerned, there is no such person and no such country. And how do you know that the world doesn't cease to exist when you close your eyes? Of course it's possible that Iraq doesn't really exist (in the sense that anything is possible) but it's much more likely that it does exist, so acting as if it existed is the most reasonable course of action.

Maybe I was harsh to the poor monkey? He hasn't found the words to respond yet. Pity.

Staff Sergeant Bryan Harrington, 37, an explosives expert from Texas, picked through the smouldering wreckage in his sixth investigation of the morning. It was shortly after 10.30am.

He said: “We don’t have enough people to get after all the bad men we need to deal with. Armed gangs are now picking us off at will. We haven’t the manpower to search for weapons, do patrols, keep the peace and root out Saddam’s henchmen who are still around.”

Somebody belives theres an Iraq.........
