If the image is right, I don't think the green has anything to do with "Mother Nature" at all, but the general cooling of the universe. If it started out as blue, is now green, and is going to red, that follows the spectrum of light from higher energy to lower. You could attribute the color shift to entropy or the expansion of the universe, or both.

Although the average wavelength of the average visible-wavelength photon may be green-ish, I imagine that the universal population of visible light photons is far smaller than the corresponding populations of non-visible photons -- especially microwave-wavelength photons -- thus making the true color of the universe very, very dark; visibly black.

Yup, trillions of years from now the universe will cool sufficiently to contract and then explode again. How can we stop this? Gravity seems the main culprit. We need to alter or erradicate this threat!:D
