quick question: how do you change that? and if you cant, couldnt they have come up with more original ones than: junior member, member, senior member. like anyone gives a shit? randomly assign insulting appelations please. it will be more funny.
Control Panel > Edit Profile > Custom User Text The standard ones are pretty much irrelevant since most everyone here customizes them.
youre a genius porfiry. thats the answer i was looking for, hoping that i had not been deactivated or something. *bows to you* thanks
About how long.... I keep waiting for the 'Custom Text' button to appear but it still hasn't. Is it activated by an actual day count? Number of posts? Also: not that I'm going use it anytime soon, but in some places in enabled. In others it is not. What's sciforums rules on this? And: the spell check at the bottom doesn't appear to work. Yr bud.
The spell checker would cost around $150 a year to activate. (If I remember Porfiry's post correctly) Here is the post... http://www.sciforums.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=5384&highlight=Spell checker As far as I know all img tags are supposed to work. Did you find a place that it doesn't? In the posts above is the answer to why you are not able to yet change your title. All I can say is give it time and keep trying.
[/b] When I go to Control Panel > Edit Profile > Signature: on the left side it lists <B>[img] code is off</B>. Like I said, I don't have plans to use it. Just curious. As far as the Spellinng Chekker goes, I guess I'll rely on my mumory. Later, and thanks.
Really?? 10.2 will have a Spelling Checker that meets those parameters? I cannot wait. Oh.....wait a minute.......<B><I>$129 with no upgrade path</I></B>? Maybe I will have to. (I love my Mac! I love my Mac! I love my Mac!)
Well, no, 10.0 had the very same spell checking functionality. True, Apple does not offer upgrade pricing. However, their full version pricing is not unreasonable. As a comparison, XP Professional is priced at about $300, and the upgrade is $200. So you'd better back up the 'no upgrade path' argument with something more substantive. I'm inclined to think you're just being irrationally belligerent.
OK....... ....let me try to be <I>rationally belligerent</I>. I have used Apple computers and products since 1978. I bought my first Mac in 1984. I have done my utmost to support and evangelize for the Mac and its OS since the get-go because it has always been the best thing going for 'users' like myself. Now, I paid ($129) and have used OSX for the past year. Granted, I am only a user, but the operating system was essentially .99 Beta, no matter how innovative and wonderful it was. I didn't and still do not care about that because it was/is a blast to use. What I do care about though, is that Jobs and Apple wants us to pay again for the release version of OSX (10.2). Of course, you are correct: $260 is still cheaper than $300 (for XP), but it's the preception that Apple is disrespecting all of those who are keeping the company solvent......something, no matter what, I will gladly do to the bitter end. (Including purchasing Apple stock, a new 17" iMac for my daughter, and 10.2 as soon it becomes available.) It is not the money: it is the principle. Now if my thinking on this subject is 'irrationally belligerent' then so be it. But it's only my opinion and I could be wrong. PS Porfiry: Being the stupidhead that I am, I truly didn't know that OSX has a Spell Checker that can be used system/application wide. If I haven't totally pissed you off, might you explain it to me? Yr bud.
