People I need your help... I'm going to travel in a few months and I'd like to know what is the best place in Europe so i can go... Do you have any good ideas or experiences to share???? thanx!!!Please Register or Log in to view the hidden image!
beautiful and old is not so difficult to find in europe......you could just go to the standard cities (paris, rome, amsterdam (not so old) etc etc). I don't know about intelligent people though...there are stupid people everywhere... and visa depends where you are from i guesss
I'm from Brazil so, there are some countries like the USA that it's quite hard to get in... specially ppl like me with no "roots" and that like to travel... but most of the countries in Europe don't ask for a visa
Germany would be good, and I'm not sure about France. I imagine it would smell, but there are some nice sights (I know some people who went recently). Like Spurious said, it would depend what you are looking for. If you're considering going somewhere it might be better to read up about it first; the history, and the significance of the sights, etc.
I've been reading a lot about everywhere, that's why I'm asking for help... there are so many places..... and I don't have much money to buy train tickets so it has to be one place at a time... it's a shame but i won't have much time to see everything before i go to England .... where i'll study... so....
I guess Portugal would be an ez choice because of the same language, it would make it ez to navigate around, but it might make you feel too much at home ? If you want to see something different , Amsterdam is the place 2 be! The paintings of Rembrandt and van Gogh look so much more interesting when you have smoked a joint in good company in an amsterdam coffeeshop, or munch on some magic mushrooms they will sell you in the smartshops, before you look at the cultural heritage Please Register or Log in to view the hidden image! It is best to visit Holland in the summer (between june and late august) because it gives nice warm weather and lucious green fields without getting too hot heatwaves like you might find in spain/greece/italy and even france sometimes (those places I recommend going to during spring) Holland in autumn sux bigtime (all wet and grey and dull, we lack the large Canadian woods/hills that colour beautifully in autumsn) and if you love real winterscapes/wintersports by all means go to Scandinavia/switzerland or Osterreich...
I would steer clear of the more Western of European countries ie UK, France, Spain, Portugal. UK lacks...the certain something for it to be good. France is just not good period. Spain is interesting and seems to be very beautiful. But it's full of foreigners, mainly Brits and Germans. Try going for some of the cities in Germany, Czech Republic, possibly Austria. The more Eastern countries seem to be the most beautiful and apparently have some of the friendliest people in our corner of the globe. Prauge looks like a good place to go, the architecture just astounds. Berlin is a very impressive city too. I doubt you need a visa to visit in Europe...well I haven't heard of any being needed.
Yeah ok. I think the three dots (...) is going a bit overboard. I don't know if you're doing it on purpose though, mallory! Please Register or Log in to view the hidden image! (If you're not, then sorry if I've offended. Please Register or Log in to view the hidden image! )
Well, i think parts of germany and austria are nice, like thor suggests, and what about up north, ie Scandinavia? Gets colder, different scenery and just as much history as anywhere else. If you'll be studying in england, then, you have to visit Scotland, of course, and not just the Highlands, also edinburgh, the east coast, the west coast islands, etc. Then which bit of England will you be studying in? if its london, yuck. you'll have plenty of history, but the air and water are foul.
I have absolutely no idea wot ur talking about!!!! The dots are there because I write the same way i speak n I must breath.... so... sorry Please Register or Log in to view the hidden image!
I'm not sure yet.I definetly need an English course, but first of all I'm going to Leeds after that I'm probably going to Liverpool and after only God knows but thank you for ur help/// by the way, Portugal is not like Brazil, and the portuguese spoken in Portugal is way different from what we speak/ We (languages university's students) are thinkin' that our language should be called "brasileiro" or sth like that because it's not like the English spoken in the US and the English spoken in the UK ( and also AustrĂ¡lia). The difference is so huge that we don't understand each other anymore. Please Register or Log in to view the hidden image!
Go to Switzerland I'd say that Vevey, Switzerland is the most beautiful place in Europe. I was there last summer, and it was simply breathtaking! It's fairly pricy, but well worth the money.
My only travel advice is this: stay the hell out of France, if possible. Avoid Paris at all costs. Paris is a dirty, cold, very unwelcoming and unfriendly little town. But I have to admit, it's very beautiful and interesting at times. Please Register or Log in to view the hidden image!

...I am Learning every day Mallory! My father just returned from a short holiday in spain and on the way back he visited paris , But he told me indeed that it was unlike the romantic paris that he visited in his younger years, Paris has turned in an unfriendly cold immigrant infested overcrowded antfarm, with horribly public transportation system and mazelike suburbs, and traffic jams, cause even taxi drivers get lost many times in Paris, just passing what he told me. The south of france however what I can tell from experience is beautifull and you have some friendly laid back towns overthere....
