Welcome to the official poll for the BEST ALBUM EVER according to sciforums! The twelve albums in the poll above each earned their spot by receiving more than one mention in the TOP TEN ALBUMS thread.

Based on your own criteria and preferences, please vote for your one favorite album in the poll, and may the best album win!

You shouldn't get to pick the list!! Sciforumers should post, and then the scores can be totted up (totalled) at the end. Who do you think you are, A Mercury Music Prize Judge? :p :D

Plus I've never listened to any of those bands, so I haven't heard any of those albums. Some may say I'm uncultured, and to be fair, I haven't swam the full breadth of the sea of music. :D

There's another thread in Art & Culture. It's called the TOP TEN ALBUMS thread. All sciforumers were welcome to post their favorite ten albums. There ended up being 12 albums that were mentioned on more than one person's top ten list. Those 12 albums made the cut for this poll.

Anyways, you can be special and skip the vote. :bugeye: Nice replying to you.

I listen to varying stuff and my opinions have changed quite a bit. I like Dido's album, 'No Angel' (though it's a bit 'down', but still quite good), I used to listen to Public Enemy quite a bit, I quite like some of Madonna's stuff, but I mostly listen to guitar based stuff. I have listened to quite a bit of The Beatles' stuff (but I no longer rate it!) and I need to listen to more of Nirvana's stuff. I also like Bob Dylan's music, early Radiohead, and I want to listen to more of The Coral's stuff.

Oh yeah, I also like Oasis, Doves and The Smiths. Satelittes on Doves' album is brilliant, especially when listened to loud!

Voted for Electric Ladyland. Very tough choice between that, Zep IV and Meddle. How come DSOTM wasn't there? That's my favourite album.

I isn't any of these albums, really. It's a tie between OK Computer by Radiohead, and Siamese Dream by Smashing Pumpkins.

I am afraid you have encountered the generation gap in your poll. While almost all the albums are known to me, many here won't have a clue as they are dated, if you will. Nice concept for a poll but will have to be broader. I favor Pink Floyd, myself.

Oh, which one is Pink?

I can't believe Lateralus got the same number of votes as Electric Ladyland. How can you compare JIMI Hendrix to Tool :bugeye:

Because populist opinion changes with the tides. Whereas Hendrix was treated as some significant work of art, Laterlus is treated just the same in this era. What can you expect in a society where music is praised for novelty rather than value?
While Hendrix gets my respect for his work, it falls short of anything impressive, as does Tool. Try Stravinsky or Wagner instead.
