Depends on what terrorists you are talking about. Reason with them, not likely. Anyone who murders thousands at once or blows up people on a bus and claims it as a great victory, well not much to reason with.

You can't really reason with fanatics of that nature, but you can address the conditions that created them.

Isn't it obvious why they are attacking the US? The US is the self-proclaimed leader of the capitalist world, and in turn the west. According to Salafi Islam Westernization is against Islam, and they are fighting the core of the west, NYC, and WTC. when there are any sorts of ties between countries it is inevitable that both sides influence each other in some way. the terrorists want the US to stop influencing arab nations. but how is that possible? it would require complete sessation of any ties. economic, cultural, diplomatic, seal the borders to tourists....etc.
