Imo, MS is pretty pathetic and desperate considering that a few years ago it didn't even acknowledge Linux even existed.

i have been wanting to try linux but i am concerned about compatability with other programs.
does linux include the drivers that winme has?
the only driver i need to manualy install is my modem
will my cd burner work with linux?

Apparently I have telepathic powers and know what your hardware is...
Ask more particulary there -> http://www.linuxquestions.org/

Linux will do whatever you need it to do.... Here is an article of a guy switching FROM Linux TO Windows XP.. Rather amusing if you are a linux user.

Going to Windows from Linux (http://madpenguin.org/cms/html/47/5937.html)

yay for microsoft, its software is so secure that rather than waste it on themselves, they use unix servers.

Now it has more than 3000 variants of Linux to battle with, its like SWARM technology from military used against MS.

Just out of curiosity, how so?

All a persons IM, Email, web browsers, office apps, video/music players, are all there. At no extra cost. If it wasn't for gaming I would never boot to Windows.

Because windows is still by fare the easiest thing out there and joe blow is, for lack of better words a complete moron with computers.

Linux required the user to think and learn by them selfs, where as windows is just point and click, generaly speaking.

So, why is that bad? That means that there are less idiots in our Linux community forums.
Unlike Microsoft there is no one big mastermind planning world domination behind Linux.
And if all Linux distributions were to be made idiot-safe I probably would not use them because then the user itself would be required to be an idiot or work at a handicapped point-point-click rate.
But that won't happen because of the open source nature and all the geeks unhappy with Windows style of doing things.

Besides it's only the easiest for those who have already learned to use it and are too used to it.
Imo, using Linux is not harder, it's just different and the casual Windows idiot is terrified when he doesn't see a small button labeled -start- at the bottom left of his screen.

I myself know 'complete morons' who use linux. They have even installed it themselves! Perhaps you think too much of your computing abilities(kunax).

Humans are smart animals. We're not doing people a favour by treating them like idiot children.

Another MS bashing thread. Not only that, Windows users are idiots or morons? Get over it guys. Don't like MS products? don't use and/or buy them. There's really no need to start insulting Windows users (unless you feel threatened for some reason).

I would disagree that Windows is the easiest. Someone using Linux with KDE as their gui is pretty simple. Heck if you want to get even more simple, got with Gnome.

Also, I think it has to do more with what people started to use and have kept using throughout their computer lifetime. I find either easy to use so it really doesn't bother me which one that I'm in.

As for Windows users being idiots/morons. Some are, some aren't. I know plenty of Server 2k3 Admins that are also extremely fluent in Unix, Novell, AS400.

doesn't linux support games? or is it directx?
why boot to windows to play games?

the casual Windows idiot is terrified when he doesn't see a small button labeled -start- at the bottom left of his screen.
the only time i use the start button is to reboot or shutdown.
i also use it for the run dialog to clear my cookies
on the other hand i would totally freak out if i didn't have windows explorer.

My experiance working as tech support, is that when users are having trouble using the freaking explore to finde there files or and cannot understand the difference between server/client side apps or local email vs webmail, they are not ready for Linux.

I never bashed eather linux or MS, neather did i say anything bad about the persons using eather system.
Personly i like my games, and so far Linux has not been able to run them proberly, that is why im still using MS, altou i do shift to some Linux distro once in a while just to see whats new.

Windows guys think Windows is easy because they can use it, but the fact of the matter is that they had to spend good amount of money in learning to use Windows.

But most of the Linux users have learnt Linux on their own, so in that sense Linux is actually very easy.

Linux has evolved but windows was made by god and thats why windows was never perfect.

Anyways Linux has windows with min, max, scrollbars etc. so who needs anything else.
